WordPress conundrum..

lol Not sure how else to put it, but here goes. I am having problems with our blog. It's not domain owned and runs off WordPress itself. I recently had the pleasure of setting up a blog that was domain owned and the amount of plugins you can use to boost traffic and SEO is astounding, where on wp itself you don't have that at all.

My question is an easy one.. kinda. I cannot perform anything other than the basic SEO on the page, and even though I work myself to a standstill back linking to the blog, it still gets no attention. I try get to a new post every week, but with my workload, I'm surprised I know what my name is most days.

So, how would I make it popular, guerrilla tactics? Blog commenting? My posts aren't mediocre lol its just the topics are almost always serious and business oriented because of the work our company does.

TBH if it could only be as easy as the work I did on our main site I might not have this problem, and the blog would do as well, but I don't have access to anything so i only have the links pointing back, and the blog itself to work with.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

What's the purpose of the blog, are you trying to build a resource or just putting your thoughts on a subject that you like on the internet?

Its a bit of both. the blog is mainly there to promote our product, but I have not only been doing that. I try give some insight into why systems like the one we create are important, how they could be used properly in business, I even give a little business advice once in a while. I once did a post on cloud computing that was well received. I just feel that full on flogging a product on a blog gets mundane and it leaves you with very little to say after you've covered every angle. So I try mix it up a little and let people see the real value behind systems, giving them examples and such so that they can form their own opinions.

maybe I've taken the wrong approach entirely.

Could you not just export the blog and set it up on your own wp site, should be just a straightforward import?

You can have all your gucci plugins and functionality then.

Don't ask me about content though, I'm a lazy blogger
