They are all as bad as each other, promising us the Earth pre elections only to be told well actually we cannot deliver this because .....

My point indeed

And voter apathy is how they keep on getting away with it!

Everyone should vote, we live in a democracy. If you don't like it, vote and do something about it.

Having worked and lived in countries based on autocracy, I know which system I prefer! Unfortunately democracy breeds bureaucracy, which in turn fuels civil servant inefficiency. I think this is the root cause of most peoples frustration.

One common theme that seems to be repeated about the new Labour leader, regardless of your politics, there is finally going to be genuine political separation and debate in Westminster, which has to be healthy for everyone.

Maybe this surge of socialism and it's natural grass-roots support with the youth will be the fix for voter apathy?

I've always voted , but the vote I am really waiting for is the in/out of the EU.

Also to get rid of trident and armed forces would be the death of the UK , in this day and age you need it more then ever

Well as Corbyn and his team start to settle in, and kick off with the Labour conference, he's certainly generating some positive coverage and keen to try and push a new "peoples" style of politics.

I'm cynical as it's early days, but some of the ideas are quite refreshing. Be interesting to see how the reaction goes down at his conference, and how much infighting there is.

The point is though that if all parties lie, embellish the truth or cannot deliver on their pre-election manifesto whats the point in voting?

Not one Politician recently has made me think, you know what I trust you enough to vote and give my time to find my nearest polling station.

So if all parties are as bad as each other how can that be voting apathy

The only problem I have with voting is that your voting for one lier to replace him with another... I have not yet heard of one MP keep to his word, its always make the richer richer and the poorer poorer if thats the right way of putting it....

I read in the paper that an immigrant gets £28 per day meal tokens for food in tesco and then still recieves benefits and housing and British born people do not even get that! I am not being racist if that comes across that way I am sorry....

That though is one of the main reasons I do not bother.... Its more for the work then for your own.

Don't believe everything you read, especially if it's the daily FAIL!

Unfortunately one downside of democracy is freedom of the press, which also equates to propaganda dependant on the political views of the editorial team

Remember the likes of the Sun have moved from the left to the right, taking readership with them. Makes me smile that a newspaper can have so much influence over someones political opinions, including changing them. The trick is to fuel stories with a normally stereotypical slant from a supported political party. Sometimes you have to take a step back from headlines and media frenzy and take a balanced view.

One thing I like to do is was watch BBC News, then RT News (Russian news agency). Fascinating to see two different angles of the same story, but played out to manipulate different audiences. Somewhere in the middle sits the truth. Al Jazeera news is another good one, sometimes can be an eyeopener when you remove local petty left/right politics, and move into global politics, East, West, MiddleEast etc.

I suspect Corbyn and crew will resolve voter apathy, as the right wing press will steam into action about a year from election time with all sorts of doomsday scenarios, scaring people to the polling station  Meanwhile the Corbyn strategy is to engage in Labour grass roots and engage the young, who are more likely to vote, and full of impressionable ideology.

I reckon the next election will be a record voter turn out.

Interesting slant above Steve.

This will be the first time a Politician has scared me enough to actually want to vote to ensure he doesn't get in to power.

Tell you one thing though, he certainly needs a PR/image guru. He looks a bit of mess at the moment, didnt even wear a suit giving his speech yesterday.

One thing being casual, another is looking like a bag of bones in a jacket & trousers! You would think he would have one that at least fitted him.
