Google Drops Profile Photos from search results

Hmm this is a worrying direction. According to Search Engine Land Google will be dropping the Profile photos from search results as Google announces major changes to the search results. eg:

Now there' no question they help click through, but Google seems to say otherwise, so we shall wait and see

The search results are being tinkered with all the time, and to be fair most of the time none of us really notice any difference.

Forum posts currently display a tag showing how many authors:

But it's a static statement and not a link to either author/member pages or the article. Be interesting to see if this changes.

Things like review snippets are well proven to increase click through, but Google does like to meddle, and these seem to disappear for a while.

Does anyone utilise any author pics, rich snippets or some other form of structured data to influence the look of your entries on search results? For those that have, is it worthwhile, have you been able to track and monitor your results?

Have you had any problems with either getting things to show, or things disappearing?
