Paloma Faith and her NHS experience

It has come to my attention that the NHS may have some positive feedback! After being slated in recent headlines across the news, it may be about time that their work was praised.

Paloma Faith; some of you might know her some of you might not. For those of you that do not she is a famous singer/popstar. After being rushed in to hospital with labour pains the singer described the NHS as "one of the great achievements of this country". The singer herself was sent for an emergency caesarean section during the birth of her first child; through writing a letter to the NHS praising them for all their hard works, the letter has now gone viral and expresses a lot of passion towards the NHS. I think its brilliant how the employees have been recognised for their hard work however begs the question of would it be the same overly caring treatment for a non popstar.

Knowing of her fan base and amazing reputation within the UK, the NHS would not want any more bad publicity; especially not with a famous singer therefore its interesting to know if an ordinary member of the public in her situation would think the same as what Paloma faith does

Don't get me wrong I am not saying they wouldn't get the same treatment as the singer however it does make me wonder if this is a way of getting good publicity after all the bad publicity.

I'm pretty sure that if I and lets say David Beckham, both had a broken arm and needed NHS treatment.... We would be treated completely different from each other.... Beckham would have people sucking up to him for the entire hour he was in hospital for.... Whereas I would be banging my good arm on the reception desk after 6 hours asking when will I be seen to....

Therefore one of us would becoming away praising the NHS and one of us wouldn't....

Totally agree with you, a good review from a celebrity really says nothing because they are bound to have better treatment!

I dunno, people are quick to knock the NHS (me included), and it certainly has it's faults.

But I have to say the emergency response or minor injuries care tends to be superb, at least from what I have seen with my missus and kids over the years. Once admitted to a ward things tend to go south, particularly in the evenings with blatant staffing problems and high demand of beds. Geriatric care leaves a lot to be desired from what I've seen with older family members.

But I think any woman rushing in with labour pains to an NHS hospital could expect immediate expert care, celebrity or not. But if you are middle aged and turn up on a Friday night with a broken arm, expect a long wait in A&E.
