Podcasting - flash in the pan?

There was talk a couple of years ago that businesses needed to do a Podcast, and tap into this new marketing phenomenon.

Now after the hype has died down, did anyone utilse this marketing tool, and if so did you have any success?

I can see advantages of podcasts for maybe media driven businesses, but couldn't see any use within my own business,

Be interesting to hear any feedback.

There are 2 instances where I heavily utilised pod casting.

#1: Tech briefs from MS and the like. I found it a good way to catch up and utilise lost time when drving all over the uk to see customers.

2: listing to radio comedy shows only problem was they were heavily laddened with ads and could get too intrusive on the main content pretty quickly.
