Had 4 emails today from suppliers reassuring me there is nothing to worry about and they will continue to be providing services!

Here was the last one from our hosting provider:

Dear Customer,

With the recent decision made for the U.K to leave the E.U. we would like to re-assure you that we expect no impact in our ability to continue providing services to you.

Rackspace always has and will continue to comply with applicable laws in the provision of its services to its customers. At this time, we continue to run “business as usual” at Rackspace and if anything changes to the above, we will let Customers know in a timely manner.

Suggesting that in the future they may not

They have even put up an FAQ to answer customer questions..

EU Referendum FAQs

  • can I still pay in sterling?

Ok I made the last one up. But has anyone else been contacted by suppliers placating worried customers?

As I understand it, until the UK Government implements article 50 of the Lisbon treaty everything is exactly as it was this time last year and absolutely nothing has changed. The process for withdrawal will not begin until a new PM is in place, a new PM will not be in place before the next Conservative party conference in October.... Until then everything remains the same. Even once the process has begun it will take years and years of negotiation before the total withdrawal has been completed..... Most of us will either have retired or will be dead by the end of the process...... By which time some bright spark will have suggested that we would all be better off in Europe and suggest we have another referendum ...

Thanks,
Barney

What really gets me is how badly behaved people are being over this just because it didn't go their way ..LOL even heard on LBC that someone wants London to be part of the EU .I really did chuckle at that

Yep, totally astounds me the amount of people in the UK who hate the democratic process once the results are in. The referendum was clear from the outset, one person / one vote there was no caveat attached to the referendum saying if you were not happy with the result you could go your own separate way or break up the United Kingdom. It was absolutely clear either in or out for the entire United Kingdom.. If the vote had gone the other way, if those who wished to leave had said they wanted to set up their own little independent states out of the EU, they would have been classed as either racists or little Englander's... I live in the London borough of Barking & Dagenham, after the departure of Ford's the area nosedived with unemployment, slowly it is being regenerated where Ford's once stood which goes on for miles. The borough has a high immigrant population that spans 40 plus years over 60% voted to leave....

I've read that a million people plus, have signed a petition to have another vote..... I've news for these numpties... It is isn't going to happen, if people were complacent in thinking that the remain campaign was a done thing and couldn't be bothered to vote.... too bad, I've even read that some were not quite sure what they voting for and had they known, they would have voted differently.... I can more or less guarantee that if the recent democratic vote is flipped on it's head and we start having another vote until the losers get what they want. There will be civil disobedience, I'm not suggesting for that to happen, but it would happen...

So the remain campaigners, now only have one or two choices. They either knuckle down and unite with the rest of the country and put the Great back into Great Britain.... Or they pack their bags and migrate to Europe the place they love and wish to be part of..... It's a simple choice..

Long term I've no idea whether I've made the right or wrong choice, only time will tell on that. But I'm adamant that I have the absolute right to be governed by those I have elected.... And for me that fundamental right, supersedes everything else.....

Thanks,
Barney

For better or worse, we just need stability, with clear concise political and economic direction.

Negativity now will be toxic for the country, and although there are some big wounds to heal, they will heal with the right people in the job. Just a question of finding them! Is it Boris and Corbyn?

Although never a real fan, I thought the Osbourne speech this morning was good and positive.

His message was I don't agree with the decision, but the people have spoken so I abide by it and we will make it work. Plus we have been working behind the scenes in case of this outcome and ensure its business as usual, and the world can relax.

I've no doubt he will throw his hat into the leadership race in the next few days, and looking at the alternatives, my money will be on him.

Absolutely fascinating watching the Labour party implode over the weekend, and with an obvious General Election looming after the new Tory leader calls one, I can't see Corbyn emerging as the captain of the ship. Although that will then set the party at odds between elected members and party members, which is quite surreal. It could set them back a decade, leaving no credible opposition party, which is worrying.

In hindsight, although I blame Cameron for holding the referendum in the first place, I think he shouldn't have quit. We voted him in to lead us, rather than falter because a decision didn't go his way. Having 3 months of in-house political warfare before we can start moving forward again isn't the best recipe for stability. So regardless of the flak he has had in the past, I'm glad Osbourne is staying to give the country some short term continuity.

I was going to say he can act as an anchor for the economy, but I didn't want that mis-read

Must admit it wasn't Cameron's finest hour calling the referendum, but he did so all credit to him with actually sticking with his general election manifesto. I think many of his counterparts would have kept coming back saying "now was not the time to have a referendum" but he stuck to his word... which is a strange quirk a British politics....  Personally I think he should have stayed as by and large whatever your opinions of him, both he and the chancellor have done Ok, considering the mess they inherited from the last Labour government....

As for Corbyn, can honestly say I've never really heard him debating anything in the public arena, so cannot really comment on him. I know he wasn't very popular when he was elected to lead the party.... Always comes across to me as being rather whimsical a bit Michael Footish..... and going nowhere.....

What we need is a strong, powerful leader who can and will bring the country together and I don't particularly believe they have to come from one camp or the other, I just want someone to put the country first.... If not, we end up as you say becoming a toxic nation and that wont be pleasant for anyone.....

Thanks,
Barney

Cameron did but look what happened to him !

We certainly are not going to get that if Boris gets in a number 10.

Out of the 6 contenders announced this morning - only actually recognise 3 of them!

Clive

Best laugh this morning, Jeremy Hunt throwing his hat in the ring. At least he's got a thick skin and is used to everyone hating him, so could be a good candidate

Yup, it's a shame Cameron chucked in the towel after the vote never went his way.... Not sure whether that is a sign of a strong or a weak leader...

Thanks,
Barney

I agree Barney , you may love him or hate him but he has done well for this country, such a shame he could not accept it .. I do wonder if it would have changed all the politics going on today and united them too
