It's been mooted for a while now, but it seems that a Buy Now button is going to start appearing on Google search results soon - BBC News.

It'll be interesting to see if this takes revenue from Amazon etc. or whether it will help them? Though I suspect you'll be able to pay to have your own buy now button up at the top of the search results so adding to the Google revenue earning machine

wonder how it will work ,I suppose it would be like adwords ...Maybe worth while looking into as then people wont have to go to your site to buy ..or would they

Good question but ultimately, it'll be with few less clicks, and interestingly it's only going to be on mobile devices/tablets.  Clearly Google believe mobile is the way forward, and also interesting that a lot of people are now using the search more to find things locally.

There is going to be a need to have mobile/responsive sites, as the article states...

Customers expect to be able to transact swiftly and safely from mobile devices and any company that hasn't done so will be swiftly outmanoeuvred by more nimble competitors.

I hope so. I didn't spend a fortune (for me ) upgrading everything to be faster and responsive, although still need a few more tweaks that are going to cost a lot so are on the back burner till I can afford it

Skynet I mean Google spreads its reach even further...

So the Google search results have been gradually changing away from the 10 listed results that users were searching for, to more and more Google owned results, such a maps listings, Google Plus and adwords.

Semantic search has given us the carousel and knowledge panels hoovering up site content and repackaging it so a visitor never needs to leave Google. Now the obvious next stage, Google will display your content, can already display products and now people will complete the purchase on Google. Who needs a website

Now to get that buy it now button will require you to buy it now

So as long as you play the game, conform to the Google rules, pay for the privilege, then it should work very well.

Does seem to go against what Google was all about back in the beginning? Guess that's progress $$$...

Ooooft you sound like me...uncomfortable with all these huge corporations taking over everything. I'm no conspiracy theorist but I hate that Google plays a tune then we all have to dance.. Not that Buy It Now really affects me!
