Justice Minister Lord McNally has assured the UK populance that the Government will continue to support the convention on human rights.

Writing for The Guardian, Lord McNally discussed how the system of values and rights contained within the convention has been part of British legal DNA for hundreds of years.

haven't seen this story, so assume this was in question then?

100% for human rights, until common sense is called for, eg inciting hatred, extremism etc

As I understand it, the Tory right wing always got very hot under the collar about the Convention on Human Rights (because they thought it was nasty foreign stuff, associated with the UN and EU ...).

If I'm right, though, an earlier UK government (a Tory one?) did a lot of the drafting of the C on HR and they based it on what they were used to in British law.

More smoke and mirrors??????

Human rights here to stay!!

Wish it wasn't - the convention has provided a smoke screen for a multitude of sins to be carried out. An unnecessary bureaucratic (and expensive) set of rules and regulations where 'going by the book (or convention)' takes precedence over 'common sense'.
