Vote yes in a referendum for a council tax rise?? Surrey County Council are going to be asking their council tax payers to vote on whether or not to up their council tax by 15% to cover paying for social care..... Not sure I agree with this type of council management, I prefer people to lead rather than asking people what they want... I don't have a problem with social care or the state welfare but... So much money is squandered in this country, just what is this money going towards, it certainly wont be going to carers on the minimum wage....
Thanks, Barney
Saw this on the news, reckon this is just the beginning... Tough one, we're all getting old and having the cheek to live longer. The bill to support this gets bigger, people will never squirrell away enough money so whats the answer? Turn people out on the street, euthanasia, matrix style battery farms (literally and has my vote) or the country foots the bill by either local or central Government tax rises. The young and wealthy will obviously vote no. The poor and the old will vote yes. NHS seems to be crumbling when it comes to Social Care and looking after old folk. Drastic change is needed, huge rethink, changes in attitude and delivery. But the one thing everyone does agree on is the NHS needs a huge cash investment. Question is where from? Back to bankrupt Britain or put up taxes? I do think though this should be centrally managed and planned rather than adhoc decisions from local authorities who have some dubious track records depending on area
What I would like to know is how much is this referendum going to cost , I'm sure it would cover a high percentage of the social care .. We not poor ,we choose to live in a big house as 1 day it will hopefully be our nest egg .. Everyone is putting up prices and this will almost be the end of us.. We give Billions away in aid every year to countries that are doing extremely well and to a certain country that uses that money to enrich his own personal wealth.. It is high time they stopped giving away our tax money to other countries or cut those costs until the UK is able to do so |
