You used to get a renewal discount back in the day, seems that these have been lifted.

I look after my Mums policies for her - one of hers came due the other day - it had gone up from £147 to £170 something. Rang them up - no thats the best we can do - its gone up due to claims in the area, but i haven't made a claim was the reply!

After a few moments of arguing i replied i would go and get alternate quotes - nobody was any cheaper.

Rang them back, by accident i pressed the digit to be put through to the cancellation/retention team who immediately reduced the price to the same as we paid the year before.....

I was about to pay the best part of £30 more !!!!!

Used to spend a lot of time defending insurance companies in my days as a broker - how the hell can i defend that !

So duff a Lenovo, or has the former HP Laptop destroyer now moved onto a new brand

I have come to the conclusion there is a deep mystical anti technology power at work around Clive who is also a talented bug finder and dab hand at breaking websites. If you need any testing done, I know just the man!”

I think thats a complement..... well its in there somewhere i'm sure lol

A new record though, even for me - had it under a week ! Have to see if i can kill it again - was fun watching Steve scratch his head in disbelief

Sammi is back

Steve has filled me in from a high level, so good to hear things have got better.

No doubt we will clash, err i mean talk soon in some other posts.

You could spin this again, and it is another topic we have debated many times on here and thats if you grant the victim anonymity then so should the ALLEGED perpetrator.

Also slight tangent on the OP - have you seen the news about the footballer thats been convicted of rape, imprisoned and released. He has joined his old team training but they have yet to announce whether to resign him, several celebrities have spat their dummy at the club for allowing him to train with them.

He has always maintained his innocence and im not going in to the actual crime itself but surely under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act now he has served his time so shouldn't he be free to rebuild his life and join the club?

Getting excited about seeing Kylie 13th November 2014 12:50 PM

IMHO - if i was paying the kind of money that these "stars" charge i would expect a live show.

I would prefer a calmer set, less dancing around and to hear a live version of the back catalogue of songs.

These performers seems to want to put on a show and kill the live music. Like i said though its just MHO

My Mum also survived breast cancer (twice) anyone that can endure that, have chemotherapy and come out the other side still positive will always have my admiration

Honestly? Jumping on the bandwagon of the centenary of WW1 - very poor taste IMHO

Getting excited about seeing Kylie 13th November 2014 11:53 AM
Yea super fab,my Andrew is taking me to a Kylie concert tomorrow evening in Sheffield. We have seen her a few times before, she puts on a fantastic show. Can't wait. Bring it on. ”

I havent actually seen her myself but did watch a few minutes of a documentary about her "live" show, albeit several years ago

The bit i saw she hardly sang, ran around the stage squealing to the fans whilst lip syncing to the track playing.

Can she/does she sing live?

Acceptable workplace shenanigans? 13th November 2014 11:50 AM

Hi Matt and welcome to the forum.

Hope to see more of you around before my demise

  • Breaking wind near colleagues,
  • Defacing ID cards
  • Switching language on their computers
  • Kicking a colleague at their desk unconscious

Do these activities happen in your workplace?

Yes - everyday !

Help me !

Before the PC brigade kick off i may have been just a soupçon sarcastic .....being forced to write this to prevent a further beating

Slight change on the OP but interesting thought from one of the comments - bleating about the expense of travel - in this internet driven world would a conf call/skpe call not have saved the British Tax payer several £££'s ?

My now very ex partner took a loan out with a similar company - they explained all the charges to her, she even showed me the paper work (once she admitted that she was in debt) and their interest rate was over 1300%  In her head she was drowning in debt and the way out was to borrow more money and collate the debt, ending in owing even more over a longer period of time!

Who was right/wrong in that situation?

No one holds a gun to the heads of people taking these loans out - simple fact if you can't afford the repayment don't borrow the money.

“..... They can charge what they like.... Bit like plumbers

Decent plumbers (which of course includes Barney) are like gold dust - once you find a gem you hold on to his number & they get repeat custom. You get ripped off & you keep looking ....
