And this is the reality of fuel price increases
Which is quite shocking, considering we suppose to be a modern civilised country. To be honest I find the idea that vulnerable people can die from the cold in this country whatever their age quite disgusting. Stores down the likes of Oxford St will have their doors left wide open with heat wafting out into the street to attract customers in, yet an individual cannot afford to heat their home.
There's lots of things the Government can do which ever party is in office at the time. They could dump the so called Green Deal scheme, which is a huge flop. Excluding VAT around 17% of people total energy bills is wrapped up and hidden in 'Green taxes' i.e. feed in tariffs, smart meters, warm home discounts, permits to pollute, carbon footprint, home improvements for the fuel poor. So around

Thanks,
Barney

....or solar panels? If you know you're not going to move these become a more attractive proposition. Prices are only going to go up and therefore you "save" more over time.

Watched this program the other day, and it was some farmer on the coast had put up one of these huge turbines on his property. Think he said it was about a Million quid to buy it and get it plumbed in the National grid, but would pay for itself within 6 years!

Forgetting the initial cost, that's not actually a bad return on investment, and he was raising the dosh to build a second. Then look at the price of some houses, and all of a sudden it's not inconceivable to raise that kind of finance.

What a legacy to leave behind, renewable energy and a very profitable business! Obviously does mean moving house is an issue, and I don't think my neighbours would approve lol.
