On a lighter note, we've all seen some clever word play for hairdresser names, but I thought this was a very memorable name for a mobile kebab shop in Bristol - wait for it:

Jason's Doner Van

love it!!

Our company name is actually descriptive. I just can't really carry it as a username, (I tried on our blog ) Its a simple abbreviation that mean performance to business, because that is what we do.

It's true though. People do sell, and I am proud to be part of the team we have set up. Choosing a company name is hard, because you have to live with the business being called that, and of course, have you linked to it, and that makes it even harder IMO. You need to chose a name that best describes your business. it doesn't have to sound all corporate, as long as you are comfortable with it and can market it with pride wherever you go

Thanks,

We run an internet business and there were many different schools of thought presented to us when it came to naming our business business and company url. Many people suggested that an internet business should have a short snappy name that people liked and could easily remember with 'Google' and 'Yahoo being two main examples.

There are many internet businesses that have business names like Shazam etc but I didnt really agree as I wanted people to instantly know what we did through our company name. We are a comparison website for business software and so decided to call our business Compare Software For Business Ltd with a url supporting of comparesoftwareforbusiness.co.uk.

I much prefer the say what you do approach but everybody is different. I guess it just comes down to personal preference.

My opinion: [Superlative] [Product] or [Product] [Superlative] or [Product] [Placename] is the way to go.

e.g.

Best Dry Cleaners
Kingsway Accountants

OR

Have look at lots of company names in your niche then pick-and-mix bits of the best ones.

I name my company according to our products .It is more direct and let people what we sell.

There is a small amount of competition in my area of business so I first came up with a model that gave us a usp and, as much as possible, set us apart from the rest. Then I came up with several names that I considered were descriptive of what we do.

I chose the name from that list based on whether or not the domain name was available.

You're very kind.

That was my first ever attempt at an animation and I must admit to being quite pleased with it, although my designer tells me it's a bit amateurish.

They can be real snobs, those designers.
