HAHAHAHA that was brilliant.
Steve, can't you log complaints with vodaphone? I use vodacome here, and I am seriously in the middle of nowhere, and yet still get good reception.
It gets a bit nasty when I try use my 3G though, I have to practice not to move one I find an area in the house that has a signal strength of around 2 bars or it reverts back to edge.
What I do now though, is connect using the wifi on my adsl modem. (its even faster than 3G
