lolz

I often wonder about that, what is the agenda behind these emails and their senders, are they really as fool or do they act like that themselves?

Age old scam I'm afraid. It feeds on the gullible and the greedy

It's not often you win a competition you never entered

Normal format is you need to pay for a flight to go and receive your prize, ie send them the money, or you need to pay some kind of fee in able to collect etc... It's all rubbish.

All different versions of the 419 scam.
Advance-fee fraud - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Another twist now apparently is conmen targeting lonely hearts on dating sites. String them along for a couple of weeks, then they have to go somewhere on business, and would you believe it, they get mugged and lose all their money... and of course the only person they can turn to is their new online date...

Sad thing is, lots of people fall for it, which is why these scams are so common

It just reminds of "telecom crimes" happened there in Shanghai. It has been days. Old people always get scammed on the phone.Calling are from overseas countries, like Thailand, Maylaysia, taiwan, and etc. They use software to alter telephone number and turn them into numbers like 110(police station). Scammers called in when young people are outside for work.Their targets are middle-aged and old-aged. They pretend to be polices or judges, saying, your bank number is controlled by criminals. You have to transfer to a safe account offered by the"police". To make it feel trusted, they will ask you dial the extension. Then another "police " will try again to persuade you to make bank transfer. After the phone call, the old are alarmed and frightened. They hurried to the bank and made the transfer without notifying anyone. Because the policemen told them not to tell anyone about this. This is confidential, lol. Having done all this, they feel not right and report to the police. Many people fall for this. Many criminals are imprisoned. The curtain falls. It is totally a farce, i think.

Hi,

I am also getting these sort of mails and really become confused because

It just reminds of "telecom crimes" happened there in Shanghai.

So even China isn't immune to the scams then! At last any scammers there will get a tougher time in prison! They rarely seem to be caught on our side of the world
