Cheery Monday morning news

"The UK recovery is losing momentum and will slow over the winter but chances of a double-dip recession has been "exaggerated", say forecasters.

"...The economy is likely to slow over the winter following a surprisingly positive first half of the year, but I think this will be a soft-patch, not a double-dip," said Peter Spencer, chief economic adviser to the Ernst & Young ITEM Club.

However he warned that low wage growth and rising unemployment along with high inflation, meant the average UK household was "in for a tough time"...

Expect we're in for a pretty miserable winter ...

This lot isn't as ideologically driven or as tough as Thatcher was, thank God, so they may switch course in the Spring. Hope so. What they're planning is butchery, not surgery, though they seem not to realise this.

Things don't look positive...I wonder if we are talking ourselves into a double dip!!!

I hear a lot of businesses are already planning on cost cutting.

...and with a VAT increase to look forward to making us all more expensive

Steve,

I am just going to think sunny thoughts...and pretend none of that is going to happen.

While we are on the subject, I am more concerned about the unemployment in public service organisations.

With the death of manufacturing, they reckon the public service is now one of the countries largest employers.

So much pain ahead, and it needs to happen, but your right, that doesn't help the poor folk in the civil service.

Oh well. It's up to us to save the country again.

To be honest, I don't think it's going to be that bad...slow and boring...that's probably it.

Ryan

You are right Ryan, It will not be "that bad" for those who decide to roll over and die. THe rest of us will do the british thing and fight the good fight!

There is a simply way to beat a recession, Get your sales strategy right and win MORE customers. If each customer you have will have a reduced capacity to spend, then define your USP's, market and strategy and go win more of them!

Simples!
