I have just spoken to a very knowledgeable and helpful Gentleman who answered my query patiently and efficiently.

Kept on the line for about 20 minutes whilst an automated voice recognition system tried to understand what I was phoning about, then cut off.
Second time took 10 minutes to speak to a human being, she was very nice but not really able to answer my questions.
I feel sorry for the staff as I think they do want to help but limited by rules and regulations.

All I wanted was a form posting to me, hung on while I listened to various options, selected the one I needed but then there was a long gap, thought I had been cut off but then got the usual one of our advisers will be with you shortly, gave up after 10mins.

How long is one expected to hold on the telephone before a business advisor picks up.
I suspect most customers will just 'hang-up'.
Is this a deliberate strategy on the part of HMRC?
