Getting help with your tax query

In recent years, tax offices have either merged with local Job Centre Offices, closed, or are now dealt with by a central office. You can contact HMRC by calling direct on 0844 474 0101 or follow the advice below.

The HMRC help lines tend be extremely busy, so it is advisable to try and steer clear of normal peak calling times like lunchtime or late afternoon. A lot of questions can be answered directly by looking on the HM Revenue & Customs website.
