My biggest annoyance so far with Windows 10, is the bloody icon in my Windows 7 task bar that wants me to upgrade to Windows 10

It looks like I will have to spend the rest of my life with that annoying windows 10 icon stuck in my task bar. Only option that's missing if I right click it, is go away!

Do you give yourself enough time off? 8th September 2015 9:59 PM

Got back yesterday after 2 weeks off in France with the family.

Actually managed to completely unplug from work mode to the surprise (and delight!) of my missus. I think it's good for the soul to have a complete break and recharge the batteries, but it can be easier said than done, something I traditionally struggle with.

It's too easy these days with technology. I can access pretty much most aspects of our business from my phone, which can be very tempting, but I managed to resist

Luckily I had Clive steering the ship for me, and it seems he had plenty of issues to resolve, from a delayed project launch, managing techies, usual customer services churn, as well as our bank going off the air, but everything got resolved.

So then there is the realisation when you get back that the world can and does carry on without you and no one is indispensable! Time for another holiday

Should be good, as Brucie has co-written about half of the tracks. A visit to Amazon, I think.”

Downloaded it from itunes today, The book of souls, Death or Glory and the man of sorrows stand out for me at the moment

Where have you been hiding eh?

Very bizarre story, like you say, looks nothing like him! Hmm sounds like a crackpot academic with too much time on his hands, or just after his 15 minutes

...and, Maiden have a new album coming out very soon

They certainly do, September the 4th  Delayed it apparently until Bruce was back up to speed after thankfully getting the all clear from having some tumours removed, including one on his tongue.

So the new show on Amazon that wont be Top gear is set to air next year, and is already scheduled for 3 seasons. Looks like Clarkson and crew are going to be getting a decent budget and a lot more freedom than they were used to

Not sure if that's a good idea or a bad one  But Amazon boss Mr Bezos seems taken with them and Amazon do seem to do well with their prime TV series.

I shall be watching, mainly out of curiosity and see if all the hype was worth it, or if a tired format has been flogged to death from an ageing front man. Be also interesting to see what Chris Evans does with the official Top Gear and if he will keep the show as a key Beeb money spinner.

So will you be eagerly awaiting the new not Top Gear show, or is it yesterdays news?

The Labour Leadership - your thoughts 17th August 2015 12:45 PM

Well there's never a dull moment with Labour at the moment. After the defeat at the election, the demise of Milliband as leader, the quest for new leadership has been fascinating to watch.

Not many people regardless of their politics disagree with the fact that Labour lost the election because the electorate lost faith in their economic credibility. Something Millband failed to convince us, by not even admitting to mistakes in the past.

But it seems the Blair/Brown era of new Labour values which did so well for the party in the past are going to swept away as the party swings completely to the left. At least if any of the media coverage and polls are to be believed.

Front runner Jeremy Corbyn seems to have come from nowhere, eclipsing his fellow leadership contenders and has well and truly gone for the old Labour values which seems to going down well. Andy Burnham seemed to be the one to watch initially, playing the socialist values card, but Jeremy Corbyn seems to be taking it to a new level.

Personally I would be nervous if Labour swung this far Left. Talk of nationalisation, strong union controls and printing money for infrastructure projects doesn't bode well for a modern free market economy IMHO, and seemed to be more in tune with the 1970's.

I'd prefer to see someone like Yvette Cooper with a more centre Labour stance, but with a better handle on economic vision rather than the disjointed messages from the election.

Whoever wins, it will be nice to have a strong opposition to the Tories, as it isn't healthy having the one party Politics as we seem to have at present. For all it's noise the SNP isn't a genuine opposition and the LibDems have all but evaporated.

But it seems the short term destiny of the Labour party is self destruction as big guns come out trying to bully support, and reports of things like Lord Mandelseon trying to get the other candidates to quit to try and collapse the leadership contest to stop Corbyn. If true it sounds bizarre and will do nothing but cause bad blood in the party.

Whoever wins will have a massive uphill battle to reunite the party and gain credibility amongst voters who have been watching the Labour movement thrash around trying to find it's right path.

I wonder if Corbyn does get elected, if the Tories will see it as good news or bad news? Either the traditional Labour vote will rally round, or it will be an easy target to start scaremongering about Union control, Nationalisation and Socialist Britain.

Wonder who Lord Sugar will be voting for?

So what do you make of the Labour leadership shenanigans? Would you welcome a Jeremy Corbyn style leadership and his policies, or would you prefer a more moderated and modern Labour approach?

Do you think Jeremy has it in the bag, or do the any of the other candidates stand a chance?

Great story on the Beeb, it seems a New York Times article has attacked the Amazon employee and work culture, painting a picture of worker misery and terrible conditions.

The New York Times article quoted one former employee who said: "Nearly every person I worked with, I saw cry at their desk."

Apparently you need to sending emails after midnight, and if you get ill, you get the boot.

So Amazon CEO Jeff Bezo has dived into the reputation management role and responded in a memo to all employees, asking them to email him if they were aware or recognised any of the stated working practices.

Lets hope he doesn't get buried in emails

I do like this line, which basically says if you don't like working here, work somewhere else:

Mr Bezos pointed out that the company depicted in the article could not survive in the "highly competitive tech hiring market".

He wrote: "The people we hire here are the best of the best. You are recruited every day by other world-class companies, and you can work anywhere you want."

Yup, certainly well down a storm, it was a classic right place right time.
