Hi Kevin, Welcome to the forums

Well with what I have read in the news, ermmm probably not the best

Fake news webpages... 30th January 2017 9:41 AM

As we all know there are plenty of apparent news stories published all over social media every day. With headlines such as 'Must read' or 'Breaking news' it should really be clear most of the information written is untruthful.

It has been brought to parliaments attention and will be discussed further for a resolution to the problem. The negative of the matter being that with unreliable posts being shared via social media, it reaches out to billions of people therefore resulting in a lot of people reading false news and believing it.

Damian Collins, chairman of the committee, said the trend was "a threat to democracy and undermines confidence in the media in general".

The Conservative MP for Folkestone and Hythe said: "Just as major tech companies have accepted they have a social responsibility to combat piracy online and the illegal sharing of content, they also need to help address the spreading of fake news on social media platforms

Personally I do see a lot of this on social media platforms, and it needs to be stopped to be honest because not only is the information on the links false but the webpages it takes you to, from your Facebook or Twitter page are full of spam links and re directions on to loads of inappropriate sites.

It is actually surprising people find the information to be true because of how the sites look

Just something to be careful of.

Jedi v The Dark Side 27th January 2017 10:03 AM

I love this and it has made my Friday morning knowing that I have spotted the cat!!!

So today is the day Theresa May meets Donald Trump for the first time since he became the official president of the USA. She is the first world leader to actually meet Trump since the Inauguration day on January 20th.

The meeting is said to supposedly cover defence and security challenges but also to discuss the trading between the UK and the USA post-Brexit. Theresa May has told reporters that 'she hopes to renew the 'Special relationship between Britain and America.

The question that stands is do we want to build a 'Special Relationship'? It is all good saying you want to build the relationship with America, but is it really America or is it just Trump himself?

Then again should be fear Trump if Theresa May is 'Not Afraid to Speak Frankly' to him.

A lot of popular brands such as H&M, Guess, D&G etc all use celebrities as part of their branding and marketing. Within good reason using celebrities in order to feature on your adverts etc is beneficial, this because the advert then becomes something an audience can recognise if you like and larger companies feels it can create role models for those who watch the adverts.

However the problem with, lets call it 'celebrity marketing' is that through using celebrity in order to promote brands it causes unrealistic role models, a lot of celebrities that feature in the ads have had so much surgery it almost looks natural Its scary because the younger generation live in front of the TV, so is it really fair to flaunt models and all sorts in front of them. For them to grow up thinking they can look like that naturally. When in fact the way they look is dependent on the money they make.

The argument which occurs is how without celebrity marketing the consumer will not be as interested in the product due to nothing on the advert they are familiar too. Also the fact that due to the TV creating role models through celebrity marketing sales increase.

What does everyone else think about using celebrities as a type of branding for their service/product?

Is your toast burnt? 24th January 2017 10:01 AM

Like your toast well done so the butter melts on to it because of how hot it is Looks like that may have to change.

Overcooking starchy foods such as toast, chips and vegetables has now been proven by scientists to be cancerous. I'll try not to bore you with all the Science because lets be honest we'd be here for years.

But there is a chemical that is caused when over cooking food, this is Acrylamide which can cause cancer.

There I did it it one sentence, hope you didn't fall asleep in that one sentence

Here are some tips from the ITV on the right way to cook your food

  • Aim for a golden yellow colour or lighter when frying, baking, toasting or roasting starchy foods like potatoes, root vegetables and bread.
  • Follow cooking instructions when frying or oven-heating packaged food products such as chips, roast potatoes and parsnips.
  • Eat a varied and balanced diet – including basing meals on starchy carbohydrates and your five-a-day.
  • Don't keep raw potatoes in the fridge if you intend to roast or fry them.Raw potatoes should ideally be stored in a dark, cool place at temperatures above 6°C.
