2016 has seen the death of twice as many celebrities in 2015 and five times as many in comparison to 2012!! I don't think we can really say that this year has been the best in regards to famous idols going out with their boots on.

This year has seen iconic members of the celebrity world depart; including David Bowie, Prince, Harper lee, Alan Rickman, Nancy Reagan, Muhammad Ali,Sir George Martin, Victoria Wood, Leonard Cohen and a few more.

'Dropping like flies' this year as the expression goes. Well I guess its certainly a year the celebrity world will remember- the question is should they look forward to 2017 or fear that we may be sitting here at the end of next year with the stats being even higher.

Will probably be quite a few more next year, I put this down to the fact that 'stars' of the 50's 60's & 70s would have been in their 20s and 30s when they got stardom. Prior to this era only film and stage stars existed... Zsa Zsa Gabor who died yesterday was a huge star in her day, anyone born after the 80s would probably never have even heard of her.... 'Pop' stars seem to have more longevity simply because their records will continue to be played and recycled... 'White Christmas' being a classic example, churned out every year, haven't been any new Christmas songs since the 80s.... Even Cliff has given up now...

Thankfully!

Explained Band Aid to my 11 year old niece yesterday; she'd heard the record but didn't know the story behind it.  Her favourite Christmas song is the Roy Wood one, possibly because her Dad met him before she was born and told her about him turning up at the trade counter in full make-up.

Popstars and actors don't seem to retire at a set age so they seem to be around a long time and you can lose track of just how old they are.  One example is Tina Turner who turned 77 recently.
