As a new student of the art, I just wish I had discovered Wing Chun sooner.
My view so far is that it is a highly effective basis for self-defence, and doesn’t require high levels of fitness, or abnormal flexibility! It exercises both mind and body, with emphasis on efficiency of movement, posture and coordination. The Somerset group has been very welcoming, and happy to share in their enormous experience. With multiple instructors, there is a lot of variety from class to class and always something interesting and new to learn. However, having said that there is also a structured syllabus to follow which is something I like as it provides objectives and a clear path for progression.

I've been training with Somerset Wing Chun for around 10 years now, I still look forward to every class. Bill is an amazing instructor who has taught me a lot in my time. Everyone is very helpful and friendly and it is a very effective self defence class! Highly recommend to anyone who is just looking to be able to defend and feel confident in themselves! We train as a group from teenagers to 80+ years old it is very accommodating unlike some martial arts and can work for any individual!

Wing Chun is a short direct fighting style with an emphasis on speed and accuracy. Bill is an excellent teacher with years of experience. He has helped me adapt the style to my limitations and is really adept at finding what works for me/you. The class is really friendly and ego free, everyone is there to train and help bring each other along. I can't recommend it highly enough

Fantastic Wing Chun instruction from instructors with a real depth of understanding in this amazing martial art. A very friendly club with a relaxed atmosphere where everyone seems happy to help you learn. Classes also never lose sight of the real world applications of Wing Chun. Would highly recommend to anyone.
