So who lists in the Yahoo Directory? 20th January 2010 1:01 PM
I was led to believe that the big search engines listed all websites automatically and there was no need any more to have to pay people to submit your websites?

Paula you are correct you do not have to pay to go into any of the major search engines.

Many many sites do well without ever going into the yahoo directory.

So who lists in the Yahoo Directory? 6th January 2010 10:04 PM
Many website rank well without a yahoo listing but the general opinion is that google may add extra kudos to a site that is listed in yahoo - the thought process is that if you can spend $299 a year to be in a directory and that directory will not just accept you because you have paid the $299 then if you are accepted it is like a vote of confidence to google.

There are a few other directories that hold some weight also (allegedly)
Curious to hear peoples opinions on this - Article marketing

I think it's a game of cat and mouse - seo companies see away to exploit rankings everyone joins in and then google and the like just say ok we will adjust our algorithm to discount articles and the seo have to look for the next angle.

Are you ready for google local search?

For sometime now google have been serving the end user local search results with mixed reviews, yes it's great if your looking for a local restaurant but what if your business servers more than your local area?

A copy of a press release outlining local search can be found here Google Brings Local Search, Maps to UK
UK House prices rise by 5.9% in 2009 2nd January 2010 1:34 PM
A clever guy once told me "keep buying land the don't make it any more"

And with more and more people coming to the UK and less and less houses being built, people living longer it's always going to simple business - supply and demand.

What amazes me is peoples view on property - if the market has gone up by say 10% yes your house has risen by 10% but so has the one you are trying to buy and the reverse when falling.

You only make real money from property if you trade it - as always just my 2 cents worth
My wife said something interesting yesterday - she said that I had more knowledge of the internet than most because I am involved in it and that most people just go to google search and go to a site.

The new mantra seems to be focus more on content and conversion than PR ratings as at the end of the day being position 1 in google with a PR5 website is no good if your end users thing your site stinks!

Remember also that end users are getting better at surfing so now its's what they see in the search results that is as important as the position on page 1

I have found chrome quicker than IE, and as a bad speller it has helped, I know mozilla has spell check as well but for now it's chrome.
