Do pretty websites convert sales? 8th May 2015 12:35 PM

Good article.  I agree it can be a challenge and a balance needs to be made.

The importance of a landing page can't be overstated.  Many times people will get to a website via Google which will not necessarily take them to the home page and therefore the page can be tailored to meet needs e.g. call to action / conversion.

If a site is not "pretty" it still needs to perform functionally and look professional.

...I'd stay away from a freebie website personally, they can do more harm than good. You wouldn't buy off Amazon or Tescos if they were using a home made freebie website. Leave those to the hobbyists....

I agree totally but didn't want to sound too bias!

Yes, though I must admit I've gone beyond that and now have way too many variations!

Yes - you can get a free website.    A quick Google, will give you a host of options - wix, weebly, moonfruit...     ....but how professional do you want it to be?

However, that is not automatically going get you a host of work - but it will make you look more serious, if it looks professional.

The choice is yours.

In terms of other options, speak to builders, look where some serious DIYers are working etc.

It all went as expected really...   all have pros and cons.   I still believe Liberals will be the 3rd party.

A lot of "hot air" in the run up to the election but when people actually have to put that X in a box - they rethink!

No doubt the day after the election I'll be proved wrong.

....We are considering of adding a feature on to our new website where people can just send legal questions they might have and one of our solicitors will reply free of charge.

Ah I see - ok.  In that case I think Steve & Inizine have covered it off nicely, you just need to make sure what ever route you take that you don't devalue the service and perceived quality.

Agreed - I can still find plenty of non-mobile websites in my search results on mobile/tablet....

.....As part of our restructuring we are thinking to include a service offering unlimited FREE legal advice from our panel of solicitors and barrister. What are your thoughts on this?.....

Apologies it's not clear to me.  Is this as part of the £350 fee?    I would suggest that a "free" add-on such as this would be positively received.

Agreed - it's more for people/businesses who have historic websites.  They need to make a decision on whether to update their own websites or leave it as it is.

I must admit I think it's over the top as I can zoom around most sites easy enough.  I've come across sites that aren't responsive or mobile friendly but I happily adjust my phone/tablet as needed to read what I want to read.

However, Google is king, so for anybody not to cater for these changes are potentialy losing business, whether that be via a direct mobile friendly site or through having a responsive website.   It is the way forward after all....
