“I do love the irony though of the Moz mobile announcement web page....”
Personally (and as a Moz subscriber) I find it inexcusable that Moz has been bumbling along for so long with a mobile unfriendly site. But also full of admiration for Rand Fishkin (former boss and now not sure what he is?) who has also decided to use the Moz site as a Google algorithm guinea pig.
Also great coverage and PR as well The Mobile Update - 21st April 2015 (It's big) 7th April 2015 10:43 AM All clean and green here
Our MLS sites are a separately designed mobile site, which is high maintenance to upkeep, as you are effectively managing 2 individual websites. But is does give you the opportunity to completely customise the site for mobile viewers and we've taken this approach for the last few years. We've just launched a service for the City of Edinburgh Council and this is our first foray into responsive design. It does have some limitations over a dedicated mobile site, but is much more efficient to manage. Interesting to read in the Moz article that Google seems to be backing off some of the responsive design hysteria and is acknowledging that there are other ways of presenting your site. Was worried for a while that redirected m.domains would get downgraded but that doesn't seem to be the case. m.domains should be held in the same regard as responsive sites. For the average site owner though, responsive designs should make the most economic and practical sense.

Apparently the Moz engineers are working on it, so it will be mobile friendly by the 21st HAPPY EASTER 7th April 2015 10:03 AM A belated Happy Easter Andy Been nice to switch off and be away from the screen for a few days. The kids didn't seem to get bored from doing Easter egg hunts, reusing the same painted eggs over and over again!
Transferring website & email addresses to zero cost options??? 7th April 2015 10:01 AM Yup agree with Indizine, does seem like you are paying over the odds. If you just want simple tick over mode, you can get some basic hosting from between £50 and £60 per year. Ezpz hosting are another alternative, cheap and cheerful. I use a mix of 123-reg and uk2.net for hosting. UK2.net shows your domain as £7.99 per year, normally gets cheaper if you renew for 2,3 years etc. Who ever you go with, it will be a lot cheaper than you are paying now 5th anniversary - ideas? 2nd April 2015 10:46 AM
“You got me, I'm on my way to join ISIS, but first I wanted to finish my work tasks.
Or maybe I'm hiding my IP - who knows. You sneaky beaky cathead! The canteen tent link certainly looks impressive, but it it'll cost a fortune, as well as the logistical hassle. But if that's what the boss wants... You should be fine weather wise with that kind of marquee. Entertainment wise, you cant beat a live band IMHO, but it's hard to cater for all tastes. We hired a band a few years ago and they were amazing, covering all genres, www.blozone.co.uk But there are millions of bands to choose from. Short list and go and see them play rather than gambling that they will be ok. Gets you out of the office plus more fun than working for ISIS Marketing master-class from Disney 2nd April 2015 8:01 AM This shows what you can do if you have some good ideas, plus a recognisable brand helps Superb publicity stunt though. If you've got kids, then they will love this. So any good April Fools this year? 1st April 2015 11:08 AM Must admit haven't seen any. Missed the news this morning, the beeb traditionally try and do something though it tends to be a bit obvious. Could have been a great opportunity for a political stunt. Cameron has resigned and handed over to Boris? Hmm on second thoughts that actually happen... Anyone get caught out, or nobody cares or just naturally grumpy? 5th anniversary - ideas? 1st April 2015 11:04 AM Hello "cathead" welcome to the forum. I'm genuienly intrigued as your IP shows you are located in Turkey? So are you writing this on the beach having a well deserved early holiday, on your way to join ISIS, or is the party actually in Turkey? Who I'm sure have much nicer weather than what we do If it's a decent size company, I'm sure they can afford a few quid to hire a hall. Our local village hall only costs £100 to hire, be a lot cheaper than hiring a marquee? Be much easier to arrange entertainment as well I would have thought? Trade Shows - any advice or tips? 1st April 2015 10:55 AM
“Memory sticks are useful to everyone, pens you can't have enough off, and if you can afford them, nice mugs .....but not the cheap nasty ones. Things that are useful and get used regularly so you need to replace them but means you see it more often.”
Target audience is Councillors, council staff and Trading Standards Officers, so thinking pens is an obvious one and we're waiting for some samples to come through. Mem sticks is a good idea, didn't think of that, shall pass that one on to our recently recruited marketing manager |
