Eurozone members and the IMF have agreed a 110bn-euro (£95bn; $146.2bn) three-year bail-out package to rescue Greece's embattled economy......"

So this huge loan is to help Greece continue to pay off its huge erm loan, and stop it defaulting and going bust.

In the words of Sir Terry... "Is it me?"

Was just reading the latest instalment on this Greek tragedy and was about to post a new thread, when I looked back at this post from May 2010.

So what exactly has changed in the last 5 years

Do you haggle? 26th June 2015 9:51 AM
I'd be interested on your views on haggling!”

We had a great thread about haggling, I call it negotiating, others disagree

Do you haggle with suppliers? Do you allow haggling?

Well a week on, and this is starting to feel like an anti climax. Yet to see any huge seismic shift in the mobile search results.”

Well we are now a few months on, and from our side of the fence, still nothing worth noting.

It seems any anticipated traffic rewards for being mobile friendly before the update have just been SEO pundit speculation. In reality I haven't seen any changes, other than lots of headlines and business owners panicking.

Must have been a good time for web designers and coders

Has anyone who already had a mobile friendly site seen or felt any differences over the last few months?

Or has anyone who isn't mobile friendly seen any loss of traffic?

And on the note of cold calling, make sure you use a clean list, having checked they are not on the TPS list. I just hate it when so called professional companies ignore or flout the rules.”

Ever tried filing a complaint with TPS? Like wading through treacle, till you get bored and give up.

aditems, don't go down the survey route either, it's still a cold call and we still get the hump

It all sounded too good after countless years/decades of underinvestment. A showcase £38.5bn major project to revitalise the economy and upgrade our creaking rail infrastructure.

Now the project is downsized as parts of the plan are shelved and Network Rail are left with the blame.

Interesting analysis on the radio, speculation was that since a major group restructure which saw the business centred around Milton Keynes, a lot of the top talent jumped ship rather than relocate, leaving a huge skills gap and lack of experienced managers.

My last experience of the train was turning up at the local (unmanned) station, to see that the next train to London was cancelled. The missus called the helpline which we found on a notice board, only to be passed to an Indian Call centre, who seemed to be struggling with the geography of the UK, and seemed to want to send us North rather than to London

In the end, after getting no sense from the "help line" as to what was happening, I asked a train driver from the train that pulled in going the opposite way. He told us the problem was a broken down train, the line was blocked and Marylebone was a no go zone, and to head over to another station and get into London on a different line. Why the big display board couldn't have said that, or the message filter over to the Indian call centre is beyond me.

Love steam trains, but less impressed with their modern counterparts, and will normally drive if I can, or fly.

Anyone reliant on regular train travel for business? Are you happy with your service? Do you think your fares are reasonable and disruption minimal?

Views on my business 25th June 2015 11:08 PM
So thought I would post an update. I have finished college now and I am currently gathering market research in the form of an online anonymous survey. I tried posting the link on here but it didn't let me as it thought I was posting spam!  ”

Sorry, our automatic filters are pretty strict, especially for new members posting web links

Redundancies 24th June 2015 7:51 PM

I'd echo Barney, and for this sort of thing go and talk to a solicitor and get some professional advice. It sounds like that any solicitor costs could be chicken feed to what you could be possibly losing

Fingers crossed things blow over!

Oh what a night.... 23rd June 2015 3:31 PM

erm even more speechless...

For whatever divine reason, the big man upstairs doesn't want you to be driving round in a Renault Trafic...

What actually happens now? You're covered but I assume your no claims take the hit as the pratt had no insurance.

But hasn't he now committed a criminal offence? Is that a (another!) trip to the Police Station to report him? Will he actually get knicked, or is just a paperwork exercise for the insurance company?

I hoping there is some suitable and adequate penalty, or is it a slap wrist and on your way?

Hi Ben, welcome aboard. Moved your thread over to our Social Media section.

I like the fact you are on a Digital marketing apprenticeship, personally I think these kind of apprenticeships are the future for a lot of youngsters. Hopefully it is structured, you are getting proper training, some cash and a full time role at the end of it. As opposed to slave labour!

But you are only 5 months in, sounds like you have been getting a good all round grounding, but have a long way to go.

Are you asking the question as an employee of HeadTech Solutions, or as a wannabe free lancer?

Or is it you don't think there is anyone with the relevant knowledge to train you, as sending out lots of self promo isn't the way to use social media, and will win few if any clients.

Social Media is all about engagement, conversations, building relationships. Brand awareness is part of it, but only if readers find what you are writing vaguely useful or interesting.

If Coke keep pumping out promoted posts saying "buy coke" buy coke" you'd soon switch off, unfollow them, block them etc.

Social media tends to help or aid the sales process rather than being a direct result. So it becomes part of your marketing mix. A lot of businesses struggle with social media because they want instant results. You can get these, but then you are down the PPC route, which is superb result driven marketing, but you pay for it.

Organic social media is more a long game approach, working in tandem with emails, flyers, PPC, etc.

I did a thread recently about starting social media campaigns from scratch, and what results they generated. I cheated by combining them with boosted posts (PPC), but it may be useful.

Starting Social Media Campaigns from Scratch

Any questions, fire away.

hence why legal T&C's are written in a certain way for that very reason.”

Some of ours are like war in peace. Here are some of my favourite bits, it's not our fault, it will never be our fault, and if nothing works it's still not our fault  No idea why number 7 is in upper case, but it came from the legal people.
