It's called advertising 26th June 2015 12:41 PM

Thanks, now I want a burger...sigh. Ever been to a five guys? They know how to do a burger and fries!

We sometimes get the train to Birmingham as it's so close and parking or driving is a pain there and it's always been fine. I have also taken the train to London from Coventry a couple of times, with no problems. However, when I lived in Reading and commuted to Slough every day (yes, Slough!) it was a nightmare if it went wrong. They closed stations or the line several times, leaving me high and dry. Usually it was a bomb scare or someone jumping onto the tracks so I guess you can't really blame the rail company for that. It is extortionate unless you get an advanced reduced off peak fare though.

I still quite like journeying by train as it's an adventure, I would hate to commute again though!

Be brave? What's the worst thing that can happen? Good luck! I used to do door to door sales for a gas/electric company and if nothing else you'll get some great stories out of it

I've just randomly looked at this old post... it's all a bit old hat now I know.  But what the heck is a looser exactly Sir Al? #muppet

I love number 11. Basically even if we messed up one, you can't wriggle out of paying by saying everything is invalid.  I'm stealing it.

Oh what a night.... 24th June 2015 11:59 AM

Oh man you are having a bad time!! I hope this week is far more successful and lucky for you. I'm sure it will be. Uninsured drivers make me sick, it's despicable behaviour. Can they fix the van? This one seems to be cursed...

Redundancies 24th June 2015 11:54 AM

Try and dig out anything you can, old emails or maybe you can get access to old bank statements online? Good luck. It sounds like a load of cobblers and they're trying to rip you off. What happened to the old company? Are they not obliged to keep records for a limited amount of time and could you use a freedom of information request? I don't know how that would work in SA? Definitely try and get some free legal advice, most employment lawyers would offer free advice. Or even the CAB.

With your website, do you sell on Etsy or anything like that? I only ask as a client of mine set up her shop on Etsy and it made a lot more than her website, even with the commission/fees.

Fingers crossed you won't be made redundant.

Do you haggle? 23rd June 2015 1:22 PM

Thanks. The bottom line is you can't cut corners with proofreading so I shall tell them that. Perhaps a list of everything I check will help underline the value of my service. I don't want to agree to a big job and end being underpaid for it. I will stick to my guns I think!

Do you haggle? 23rd June 2015 9:33 AM

I have a client who is trying to knock money off a quote...do you haggle with customers? I certainly don't want to undervalue my product/service but they are offering some free advertising in the book for my business.

I'd be interested on your views on haggling!

A Cat-astrophe? 23rd June 2015 8:45 AM
