Heatwave! 3rd July 2015 7:20 PM
I'm ok with the weather, generally strip off and wear next to nothing, which pleases the ladies no end......... well it did 30 odd years ago

On a serious note, it does seem to take it's toll on my cats. So back in April decided to install an air conditioning unit upstairs where it gets the hottest. Will they go there? Will they heck, you'll find them all crashed out in the greenhouse!

My cat just sleeps all day inside. Actually she usually does that anyway! (when she's not infesting the house with mice...)

There's still no sign....off to buy a humane trap tomorrow! No doubt it'll cost an arm and a leg! I was thinking of trying to create one myself with a box and a Weetabix tonight. hahahaaaa I can't see it working somehow!

I definitely remember the jumpers! It feels like most of my childhood heroes are either dead or in prison for some hideous crime.

Blinking cat! It brought a mouse in and let it go! We cornered it and I have caught many a mouse, but it snuck into a gap, I had a chance to grab it and instead shrieked as it squeaked hideously at me and looked into my eyes with a murderous glare!

I am not a girly girl and used to do mini beast hunting and pond dipping as a job (best job EVER by the way) so I am disgusted by my pathetic behaviour! It got behind the washing machine and so we pulled everything out and can't find it anywhere! It's ridiculous! GRRRRRRRRRR!

lol ,noooooooo I say , I came here to get away from the heat , I thought this place was a freezer before I came here ,how wrong I was ... Mind you this week will be like a winters day back home

 ”

The heat here is quite oppressive...but that is mostly because we don't ever get a chance to get used to it and we don't have air con.

I would probably cope a lot better if I was by a beach, in the shade, with a cold beer!

Currently exhibiting at the Trading Standards conference in Bournemouth, by the seaside but stuck inside a big hall

Suspect a few expo visitors slipped off to take in the rays

Nice location! I was there with a council conference a few years back and we did sneak off to the beach at one point! It was lush! I so wish I wasn't stuck in the Midlands!! I was born in Devon and I couldn't be much further from the seaside! Boo!

Everyone loving the forecast this week or dreading it? I love discussing the weather, which makes me a true Brit I think! I am dreading it mostly because I don't have much in the way of summery clothing or shoes (I just realised this last week) and it's too hot at night in our bedroom!

It is definitely a great time to work from home though, I wouldn't fancy a stuffy office all day! We'll have the paddling pool out here later, and there's ice creams in the freezer.

Somewhere up in the loft gathering dust I have a 5 million drachma note, I'll quite happily donate it to the Greek crisis, it's worth is around £2.  ”

I miss the drachma! Those were the days!

Your local MP - what do you think? 30th June 2015 8:25 AM

Well Tony Blair once washed my car....

Nah he didn't really, would be a great story though wouldn't it?

I haven't had much to do with any MPs although met one or two prospective ones when I was involved as a Poll Clerk and counter for the council a few years back. Mostly trying to pester us during the count!

My parents have dealt with their local MP a few times over the years and tried to get things changed as my mum is disabled. They haven't had a huge amount of luck although I think a couple of drop kerbs got put in eventually. They also got invited to join a committee that oversee changes locally for disabled people, but I guess that's more of a council thing. I haven't had much cause to contact mine, although there is a drop kerb issue near us so maybe I'll get pestering!

Redundancies 26th June 2015 7:30 PM

Oh no! Or as it turn out oh yes? I hope it all works out well for you, keep us posted. Redundancies can often sort you out and lead you onto a path you'd rather be on, if you're positive and careful.

Good luck, do you mean fight for your redundancy package?
