VirtualOffice4U right back at you.lol

I know you can do it on your own, but there are a lot of people out there taking advantage of IM newcomers. They teach them all the wrong things and these poor newcomer's don't stand a chance. (Seriously).

A newcomer with basic knowledge about marketing, or internet marketing is less likely to fall for that get rich quick trap most fall into. I'm not saying go get a masters degree in marketing just so you can work on the net, but there are a multitude of books out there that you can really learn from. (Just as many, if not more than those trying to take you for a ride).

Steve, I think that IM's like us should help point them in the right direction. We advertise ourselves whenever we advertise a product, and we can use that "influence" to teach others, and point them to the books, resources, etc. that really matter and will help them. We use our experience and knowledge to teach.
The way I see it, with IT that is, anyone that can defy the law of PEBKAC, can be a techy. lol

To get back to the IM thing, it looks as if people are targeting one specific aspect of internet marketing and claiming themselves to be professionals in it. Its as if these are the fields they feel most comfortable in, and feel they can excel best. Problem is its not what I would advise any newcomer to IM. To do it all, you have to learn it all.

Can you imagine trying to explain to someone that you do for a living?

That would make me an SEO expert, Forum expert, Backlinking expert, article writing expert, blog expert, (oi, not going on with that list).

Ever tried phoning Google?

lol erm prefer to plead the fifth on that one.

I see that a lot of sites are trying to introduce that "personal touch" and are trying to set up some sort of support page, but truth be told I feel as if they are just not really as interested in the whole concept as they are trying to show clients. Look at web hosting services for example. I hear people complaining about them left right and center. These companies need to have a support center in place, but if they aren't really interested in helping their clients, then their clients tend to feel that they are only interested in the money and couldn't give a hoot about any problems they might have.

"We" (collectively) put a lot of effort into researching and planning our customer support system and intend to focus on it. People don't seem to realize how important it is to be there for their clients even if its for petty little problems. The more you communicate with your clients, then better they feel about your company, product/service, and the more likely they will buy other services and products from you. And, more importantly, the more they will tell others about the brilliant service they got from that company.

Customer service might just seem like something that has to be in place because you own a business, but many fail to see the marketing opportunities it can bring.

We have one, and with the products we have, it would be better to have one than not. It gives people a place to talk to us, and ask us to help if they have problems etc. We have a wiki that generally covers everything from point a to z, but having that support net makes a client feel that you care enough to have someone there, ready to help them whenever they need it, and they appreciate it.
Twitter not for me? 7th September 2011 9:16 AM
It's all just another area of Internet Marketing one could use, and happens to be the most popular in some aspects. You don't have to jump on that bandwagon if you don't feel like it. Our Company has a twitter page, but I generally use it for reputation and not any real marketing. When I add a new blog post, its automatically sent to twitter. Other than that, I retweet followers tweets when I have the time to actually spend on twitter. I think our Facebook page has cobwebs already I really don't have the time to sit on the apps the way I would like.

Sometimes, you can't help thinking that the information or help you give to someone isn't appreciated, and it can make people think twice about helping others. Sometimes I think that regardless of whether they listen to you immediately, they will in the long run, if things don't work out the way they planned, etc.

For me, its just an awesome reward knowing my skill can help someone. For example, last night. I was working on an art piece, and even though my eldest daughter has seen me remove grass from the skirts / dresses of my models when moving them to other backgrounds, it was as if she saw what I was doing for the first time. It felt good knowing that she thinks its an awesome trick, and that she wants to learn how to do it, so teaching her to would be a pleasure for me.

If I knew that someone was doing that just to make me feel better or just trying to make conversation, or they didn't really want to learn, I probably wouldn't have shown them.
The end for Gaddafi! 4th September 2011 6:15 PM
It's nothing new really, its just the way things work. I guess it happens all over the world and not just in government. All I can say is that I hope its all coming to an end now so that people can start rebuilding their lives and dealing with the loss of their loved ones. I detest war, and hate what it does to people, and I am not only talking about those involved in the fighting, but the innocent bystanders as well.
Best Way to get clients 4th September 2011 6:05 PM
Basically, I don't do anything I know I wouldn't like being done to me. Simple philosophy really. I have social bookmarking sites yea, the one I work on the most is my twitter page, and that's only because my blog is linked and when I write a new blog post, its updated automatically. Then, like I said, there is my blog, which I keep as business orientated as possible, with as much information as I can muster. I prefer helping people make informed decisions, rather than trying for the sell. In the end it helps a great deal because people appreciate being helped more than they do if you tried to force a sale on them.

One thing I have noticed about a few businesses over here is that they do keep in touch with their clients. They make time available where they travel to their clients and see how everything is going and at the same time see if there is anything else they can do for them. Clients see this interest, like it and then pass the word along to all their friends, which, in the end gives these companies a bigger client list to go visit
Who do you look up to? 4th September 2011 5:25 PM
I don't really have any sort of hero or person I look up to. I would rather say that people that have lived through hardships, violence, war or abuse would have my vote. People that grow up living the worst lives ever, but still find ways to become strong people, that don't conform to the "norm" and become what people expect them to become because of their backgrounds. The ones that truly fight and don't give in, and come out victorious on the other side.
