Do you take a lunch break? 6th June 2014 11:28 AM

Reading a report on the BBC website - Employers urged to encourage lunch breaks for staff

Do you take a break at lunch?

Have to admit that i dont and tend to eat a sandwich at my desk, occasionally reading the news or checking personal emails but normally i'm working.

But having read the report it seems i could be at risk to all sorts of problems - maybe i will try and make an effort to get out occasionally!

Was that an invite  Think you may be cooking indoors if the forecast is still right

Bright sunshine here today following a deluge last night and most of the day, lots of standing water still on the roads this morning.

Have a good one

Just heard that we are in for severe weather on Saturday.

Gail force winds and rain, lots & lots of rain!!

Was going to sort my drive out as well this weekend - rats - looks like i will be getting wet as need to get it done !

How often can you say that you get your own cartoon drawn

Thanks Jan !!

Lol thanks, i think

Found this story on the BBC website this morning. Its both so very sad but bemusing at the same time.

Seems the family of the reportedly oldest man in Tokyo had led officials on a merry dance for 30 years after officials arrived to toast the 111yr old on his birthday only to find a mummified corpse that had been lying in his bed for approx 30 years.

Fraud charges are now being filed against the family as they continued claiming pension payments in excess of £70,000.

How sad and bizarre !

Tescos profits are down again 4th June 2014 10:07 AM

With Tesco reporting a 3rd successive quarter of falling sales, are the 4 big supermarkets losing a grip on their strangle hold of the consumer?

Mind you it reported profits for the year of £3.3 billion in April so don't feel too sorry for them, they are still fleecing you sufficiently to survive!

Seems the recent price war on essential items and the discount rivals are taking more of the market share are having an effect on not just Tescos but the other mainstream giants too.

Maybe they wont just arrogantly keep putting prices up on items expecting you to blindly pay whatever it costs for your weekly shop.

Must admit i always berated my parents for spending hours on a Saturday morning going from shop to shop in the Town of Solihull to save money, but this was before mainstream supermarkets, however i find myself doing a similar thing getting various products from Aldi, Morrisons & Sainsburys as the price difference is vast, im not just saving pennies either!

Does anyone else shop around or do you patronise one particular store?

Obviously just my humble opinion in case a beefeater turns up and marches me off to the tower!

 The walls have ears !

Totally agree with you Barney, but with a few simple cheap ingredients you can make something much healthier for the kids to eat, just need to plan ahead.

Accept that most of us work long hours and the last thing you want/need to do at the end of the day is cook, but i do batches of food for the freezer on my weekends i dont have my son. This allows me more time with my son on the nights i see him, yet he still gets a Dads home cooked meal.

Firmly believe that society should stop blaming everyone else for kids failures, or bad eating habits and look squarely at the parents - its too easy for them to say, its out of my hands what they do when they arent in the house, no rules, no discipline. I wasnt scared of my dad as such but knew if i broke the Law or acceptable rules of the house then i lost privileges like pocket money, treats, access to the 1 games console in the house etc

Its a saloon but the seats do drop - its ok for a couple of days, not really a long term solution though

Going with plan A now and extending my fence line along my drive and will put up security lights, still pondering CCTV
