Yep i'm in - think its the least i can do is to show a little respect to all of those that lost their lives defending our honour & Country

Always makes me smile when ... 1st August 2014 1:41 PM

A SEO company tries to list on our site but can't get the categories right.

Bit of a poor show really, its not like its hard to choose one of our 2500 categories. Can accept spelling mistakes or sometimes the system tries to be too clever but to land up in the 24 petrol station category has me baffled

Royal Navy Sea Fury crashes 1st August 2014 12:29 PM

One of the planes that we saw in Farnborough 2 weekends ago has crashed at another air display at RNAS Culdrose (actually we nearly went to this instead of Farnborough!)

No one was injured on the ground and the pilot brought the plane in safely, albeit its undercarriage collapsed on landing, and he safely jumped out the stricken plane.

The rest of the air show was cancelled and an investigation is now under way to the exact cause of the incident.

Slight sideways comment on this - saw on the news this morning that switching providers was proving to be expensive.

The cost of ending a contract with a company averaged around £190, with the highest being reported at £625 (source BBC).

The CAB is asking providers to drop its cancellation charges for customers who are being forced to switch as a result of "persistent problems". So far only one company (name not reported) has agreed, whilst it states the majority just stand by their standard T's & C's and thus cancellation charges apply.

PPI when will it end? 1st August 2014 10:33 AM

Saw on the news this morning that Lloyds half year profits have been hit due to the ongoing PPI claims.

They still managed a pre tax profit of (just checking BBC website for facts) £863m.

Good news for shareholders, Lloyds said it would carry on with plans to recommence dividend payments.

Sonic Booms 1st August 2014 10:20 AM

Poor old Wales, its been reported that half of the 16 sonic booms reported in the last 5 years have been over Wales, resulting in a few claims off the MOD for compensation.

My family had a caravan near Corris and we were frequently "buzzed" by low flying Hercules in the middle of the night hugging the terrain. Did also have the odd jet during the day too. Great fun to watch, even better the once when the plane was low enough we could actually wave at the crew, who waved back!

We have a bungalow in Tywyn now and get far more jets flying overhead to the sea but not once have they pushed it to super sonic whilst i've been there.

Think these kind of things are inevitable. Our pilots need to train for combat and Wales has great terrain for this kind of simulation.

Brittish Gas profits drop 31st July 2014 2:43 PM

Oh dear, British Gas profits are down for the first half of the year, to a mere £265m, a quarter down for the same period.

Operating profit from its parent company Centirca are down 35% to a mere £1.03bn, so i'm guessing the begging bowls will be out soon then !

Its reported that the average bill will be £90 cheaper this year compared to the last. Dont get too excited though thats only a £7.50 saving each month!

Driverless cars by next January 31st July 2014 12:49 PM
