” How about a family member or friend that can sort the sales in your absence ? Bin Strike fear in Brighton 3rd October 2014 1:54 PM
The last time this happened back in June 2013, Steve and i were at the TSI Conference in Brighton, there was a horrible smell hanging in the air from all the rubbish lying in the streets. Can't imagine the impact it has on business then and what the impact will be this time. I really hope it doesn't get as bad as the last time - here is a picture we took whilst having a meal out, it really is enough to put you off - i wonder how many people walked past the restaurant we went to because of it ............ #NationalPoetryDay - Share yours 2nd October 2014 4:34 PM Think someone is having a bad day Phones 4U goes into administration - 550 stores close 2nd October 2014 1:16 PM

Presumably they will knock it through into one and make a super store? Is Tom & Jerry a Racist Cartoon? 2nd October 2014 9:46 AM
“Maybe there should be a warning saying it is 'catist', the mouse starts all the trouble and the cat always gets the blame for it.
Maybe the 'black maid' should be accused of abuse for always whacking Tom over the head with a frying pan...” Now there's a whole different argument i hadn't even thought of ! Is Tom & Jerry a Racist Cartoon? 1st October 2014 9:51 AM Well heard it all now. My absolute favourite show/cartoon as a child has been branded racist because of its portrayal of Thomas's owner being a "black maid" Amazon place a warning message on its Prime Service and quoting from the BBC website - "Tom and Jerry shorts may depict some ethnic and racial prejudices that were once commonplace in American society. Such depictions were wrong then and are wrong today." Talk about sucking the fun out of what is IMHO one of the best cartoon series ever created. A further quote, sums up exactly the thoughts of many - The warning was attacked as "empty-headed" by cultural commentator and professor of sociology, Frank Furedi, who said it was a form of a "false piousness" and a type of censorship which "seems to be sweeping cultural life". Nothing more to be said really - its pathetic Full story - BBC News Rip up your Tax disc from 1 October ! 1st October 2014 9:32 AM So today is the day you can remove your Tax disc, if you can be bothered - bet a forum fiver you will have a wonderful sticky mess on your windscreen where the holder is welded to your windscreen though ! Reading the news earlier and something that didnt occur to me before is the amount of money HM Revenue will make from "double taxing", although the DVLA dispute how bad the problem will be and no figures were mentioned. For example, you sell your car mid month, you have to now surrender the Tax for the remainder of the year but you only get the following and remaining whole months Tax back. Now the new owner has to Tax the car, but has to pay for the whole month that its bought in Legalised con ! As if the motorist doesn't pay enough in Taxes already ... grrrrr |
