What Are You Listening To Now? 21st August 2015 4:44 PM

I cant believe he said that - sure he will recognise a least a couple of her songs.

My fave of hers is Underneath the Tree (xmas one)

Do you have a Will? 28th July 2015 11:03 AM

Heard this on the radio on the way in this morning, then read more details on the BBC website

Long & short of it, a mother disinherited her daughter in her last Will, written in 2002 and she died in 2004, leaving her £486,000 estate to Charities. The reason behind her decision is immaterial IMHO - she was of sound mind and made a calculating decision

The daughter has just successfully overturned that decision and won a 1/3 of her mothers estate.

Someone please tell me the point of having a Will if it can be ignored and/or challenged

My father passed away a 7 years ago, he left a Will and i was an Executor. He left simple instructions and various bequests, some i was not happy about but what right did i have not to carry out his instructions? It wasn't my money. I simply wrote cheques as instructed and went about his wishes. I did not give it a thought that I would not carry out his final wishes.

Totally flabbergasted that a) someone would challenge a Will b) the Court has found in the daughters favour.

Again - what is the point of me/you/us having Wills?

The saga continues now as he is peeling ......

Reliable car needed 24th July 2015 11:51 AM

I had a VW CC for a while. That had a big boot and was lovely to drive, only down side was the driving position.

Some of their seats, mine included, are at an incline, so it compresses your back and contributed to my back problem.

There was another seat i could buy which would have allowed the seat to level out - only £4k to change !! Sold the CC and bought my Audi

I love car shopping. Went through a few cars really quickly over the last few years, for various reasons. The only one i would say to stay away from is Renault. Ive had several without issues, but my last Laguna the gearbox went on it 3 months outside of the warranty - only done 60,000 - nightmare, vowed never to own or recommend them ever!

Keep us posted on your weapon of choice

Linda

Genuine pleasure to have been talking (and posting on here) with you.

May you have a full, long and happy retirement

My cat is a great mouser - only problem is that she thinks its great to bring them back to me !!!

She has learnt to kill them now as any live ones get put back in the field whence they came, much to her disgust. Even the dead ones get unceremoniously thrown over the hedge - its not a case of i'm against her eating them more a case of over eating = the sound of her vomiting at 3am

Birds are a favorite of hers too. Usually she eats these outside but i have come back on a couple of occasions to a feather filled lounge and a chewed off head looking at me ....

Tell me again why we love these delightful creatures

Oh what a night.... 23rd June 2015 2:06 PM

Blimey Barney - i thought it was just me that could spin yarns like this!

Really hope everything works out for you.

Sounds like your insurers are on the case but drop me a line if you need any help or advice insurance wise.

Oh no, not a speeling error... 12th June 2015 12:28 PM

I dont think it actually means anything (according to the beeb), its just a typo -  they wrote Fonsig, it should be Fonesig

What's in a name... change... 12th June 2015 11:55 AM

This just gets me really angry and i have no idea why its legal

I get that sometimes things go wrong and companies go bust, but you should not be able to escape from your debt by transferring the "goodwill" of a company to another trading name or hide behind your spouse.

Time for this archaic and immoral practice loop hole to be closed.
