Importance of nursery reviews 1st September 2015 12:10 PM

Adding my 2 pennies .....

Several moons ago i was looking at Nurserys for my kids. I contacted the Council who sent a list of them in my area.

Followed these up with calls to inquire about places and made a short list.

Followed those up with visits to the nursery itself, whilst reviews are great in part for most businesses i would not trust, (personally speaking), any positive review where i would potentially be sending my child.

HSBC Banking trouble 28th August 2015 2:31 PM

Just had a rather strained phone call with the HSBC - demanding to speak to Steve re an urgent issue.

Tried explaining that he wasn't about and if it was that urgent they should speak to me. They were having none of it.

Just checked online to try and see what is going on and firstly took me 25 minutes to even connect to the online banking system - got chucked off it the first few times i tried. Gave up in the end

Googled HSBC to find that their has been a massive glitch of their system (again!) and that thousands of workers face a long weekend without being paid. Ouch!

Are you waiting for wages from a HSBC bank account - i'd go and check 'coz i think you are in for a bit of a shock!

When translation goes wrong ....... 28th August 2015 10:02 AM

Was doing my usual checks on the over night new listings and this caught my eye

"We are your (name removed) company working in congestion with (removed) Council for all your waste removal solutions. We proud to be the cheapest, most reliable."

I wonder how many other sites they visited last night and created the same description? Also what damage has been done to that particular companies reputation?

Good job i'm on the ball, even if Mr SEO isn't

Surely, there are people who will just take and not want to buy more. However, if they really like the product, and they'll need it again, I think they will come back for more.”

Yep good point

I wasn't saying it was a bad idea per-say, just its very hard to weed out the users and concentrate on those that will (hopefully) become profitable.

Anyway, Paul - about those freebies

I have had Radio 1 on in the car the last couple of days....mid-life crisis??”

I wake up to Radio 1, was a fan of Chris Moyles.

I dont like Nick Grimshaw, he grates on me but do wonder what he is going to be like on X-Factor?

Maybe one day i will re-tune the alarm clock but by having him on the radio certainly gets my butt into gear first thing!

The Italian Job

Just seen this and thought i would add my 2 pennies

I have a friend that uses Groupon and similar sites to get cheap deals. Obviously the idea is to hook you on an idea and you go back and pay full price for product/service but she never does.

Freebies are great but you are always going to get an element of people that will just look for the bargains/freebies and have no intention of coming back or paying.

Talking of which - did someone mention freebies

Hi Gareth

As per our telephone conversation, upon checking, we do not have any other email from you with the exception of the first inquiry.

We do ask ALL new customers to tick a box stating they have read the T's & C's, i accept that in reality that most people will not but all of your questions could and would have been answered had you looked at them.

A lot of directories use numbers to gather analytic's, some in the form of 08, some with nasty premium rate 09 and others (including a certain coloured directory)  simply use geographic numbers, but it is widely used and accepted this goes on.

We have NEVER and never will sell your details to any other organisation.

We would also NEVER EVER EVER harvest an inquiry meant for you and sell it to a competitor. Ive never heard of such a thing !

As i said on the phone call i am passionate about this company and the service we provide. We are not a big faceless organisation and a simple call to us would have resolved all of your queries.

The easiest thing to do would have been to delete this post but i am happy to reply to it and answer your points, as i believe i have done above.

Absolute silence - Steve is away .....

Ahh the silence rings in my ears - no sighing as he is typing, no chewing his gum and no tapping his mug when he wants a coffee... ok made the last one up
