Alcohol for mothers day 29th February 2016 4:46 PM

Had a friend that had a house party for Charity and got around the licence law by renting out glasses and not actually charging for the alcohol.

Similarly, is there a reason why you couldn't put a hefty charge for the cake with a "free" bottle?

England - Wales M4 Severn bridge charges 29th February 2016 4:43 PM

In low tide you can practically walk across to within a few dozen feet of the other side- there is just the matter of the estuary to cross!!

Yep frustrating is one word lol

... Suppose you really need to work out the costs of going the long way around ... ”

There is such a need for a bridge in a few locations i travel to in Wales. One of my favourite beaches i visit is Ynyslas - a 45 minute drive away from where I have a family holiday home - here is a shot of the beach looking back to Aberdovey -

you can just about make out the pier in the back ground - its a tiny Estuary that you need to cross but have to drive about 25miles inland ....

I would happily pay for a Toll Road !

Yes some of them are the curse of Satin himself, other times though they make life so much easier.

Buying In 19th February 2016 1:22 PM

As long as you tell me  the time frame in advance of paying then it wouldn't phase me.

If i paid and then found out its a 4 day delay then yea i will be jumping up & down !

Fake Reviews - user beware! 19th February 2016 1:19 PM
“...

demanding a good review before they would send the food!!! I of course refused and cancelled the order, but it makes me very suspect of any of the reviews on there, not that I have any proof others aren't genuine. .........!”

Another "forced" review avenue is Ebay.

Scenario - I bid/order something from Ebay and i win, i am asked to pay. I pay straight away, my transaction is over, I have been a good customer and on that basis i should get good feedback at that point - EXCEPT the seller waits for you to leave them feedback before they leave yours. What happens if i get bad service and leave then negative feedback? How is it fair that they then call me a bad buyer?

Ebay - need to swap the way their "reviews/feedback" works IMHO

Who will be next? 15th February 2016 3:30 PM
Like many stories not the whole story always published.  He donated it all to Children in Need.  I guess that's the problem when you aquire information via the Freedom Information Act...

Probably as a result of pressure from the masses.

Doesn't change how i personally felt about him and to be branded a "hero" is a term i would reserve for true heros, those that give their lives in defense of our Nation.

A hero is not an over paid TV/radio presenter IMHO

Top gear 11th February 2016 3:52 PM

Saw earlier that the line up was being completed with Eddie Jordan (ex F1 boss) and Sabine Schmitz from Germany who appeared on the show a few times. Seem to recall her throwing a van around the Nuremberg ring, some years ago.

So thats in addition to an American actor and a couple of other people i actually don't know.

Sorry Beeb, personally think you have got this totally wrong. From the multitude of available of talent, are you honestly telling me that the annoying Chris Evans joined by a failed F1 team boss, an actor from across the pond, a female racing driver from Germany, a You Tube blogger and an unknown journalist are the best we have to offer?

For those similarly aged to me, i shall do what the Why don't you lot used to say... (for those younger it was -  "switch off the television set and go do something less boring instead" !)

Does Anyone Care About Bing? 11th February 2016 3:04 PM

I think any competition to Google can only be a good thing.

Google are a forward thinking Global company though that seems to be able to handle anything that is thrown at it.

Can you honestly say the same for Bing or Yahoo?

I was out and about the other evening, looking at bedroom furniture.

Have to be honest and say I received some of the best customer service I've had in a long time. Even the fiancee commented on the way that he had exceeded my customer service expectations!

The chap I spoke to gave me all the time needed to explain the product, delivery charges and to ensure we measured properly or he would abandon the new wardrobe where it got stuck! Sounds harsh but perfectly fair when you think about it, especially as she lives in a 3 storey house, something I was keen to discuss, as I don't fancy lugging it all the way to the top!

I have also recently been doing a lot of car shopping with my future step daughter, you would be amazed at the differing experience we have had. Renault are in the hot seat currently with their excellent service (yes i know i said i wouldn't touch them again, but its not for me!) and Vauxhall are firmly in last place with appalling service, complete non interest in helping or barely bothered to go through the figures with me/us - does he not want to sell a car

Why do we put up with shoddy poor or even non existent customer service?

I keep saying the same thing, customer service is so simple to deliver, yet, frequently it goes wrong.

Doctors Dispute - is it this simple? 11th February 2016 12:24 PM

Up until 10 minutes ago, likewise i didn't have a clue what this was all about, except Doctors were saying they work too long hours for too little pay. Well so do I

Seriously though, it does seem silly that there are reasonable steps that could be taken to prevent these strikes, although just read that the Government are now enforcing a new contract regardless.

Seems a bit pointless having these talks if they are going to steamroller changes through.
