ATTENTION COASTAL BUSINESSES!!!! 10th February 2015 10:01 PM
Just not quick enough Ray

Great to hear back from you then, have missed your rants and ramblings about the justice system

Thanks Steve, as I said in another post I and many of my colleagues have been warned. in short I need to avoid being political, left or right, it makes no difference. I can't support or deride any political group. I Must remain neutral in terms of politics.

however, I can comment upon many other things...... Like do we think footballers are a bunch of overpaid softies.... Does everyone in the north of England wear flat caps and race whippets on Sunday's

i am sure I will still find a topic to moan about.

And in the age of austerity and cut backs all of the political parties have now found money for jobs and new investment for us northern folk. Cameron and Osbourne went walkabout with the natives in Leeds and Goole. Miliband joined in the party by offering "all" men 4 weeks paternity leave. He is probably assuming those up north don't work anyway so it won't cost owt.... Buying votes me thinks.

Up until yesterday I had little or no faith in any political party but to my shear horror, a close personal friend has just announced he is standing in the next election as a Green. Assuming he gets voted in to power and assuming I don't get shunned as a result of his power trip I could be influencing government policy by June 2015....

Oh, I was so tempted to let rip....

About how this government has dismantled so many public sector services and how they continue to put the public at risk, shamelessly privatising public sector jobs on the grounds of saving money but in reality the public often pay more for a worse service. Even child protection services are now under threat from the private sector who eagerly anticipate yet another untapped cash cow.

Yes private companies really can make crime pay.....

regrettably in my new role I am in effect barred from openly criticising the minister responsible for managing my department or indeed the government for encouraging cronyism... so in the absence of alcohol I will saying nothing. Suffice to say, I eagerly look forward to casting my vote in May 2015.

Right young lady, that's a clear shot across the bows if you ever needed one!

No more talking, time to start doing and quit! S

We want regular progress reports. Look at our man Ray who started this thread years ago. Smokings ancient history to him now and he turns up to work in a Bentley

Oh I wish I could turn up in a Bentley...I did however buy a nissan quashing with my cig money.

Coming up to 3 years now (I stopped in February 2012), best decision I have ever made.

As an ex-smoker I will never judge, preach or lecture anyone however I will always recommend quitting and try to support that person through the tough times.

this forum was a fantastic help for me...

Crime - Victims and their Perpetrators 27th September 2014 7:57 PM

The problem with keeping the media/press out of courts would in effect close them to the public too. People will then be "judged" behind closed doors by a system that is in effect a law unto itself. Wholesale corruption, injustice and mysterious legal practices would inevitably emerge "unchecked and unchallenged"

Justice has to be Seen to be done....

by keeping it in the public domain it remains largely impartial and equitable to all. If you are Mr Jo average, very few will care if you are caught committing a lewed act in a public place. However if you are a celebrity who has made your money in the public spotlight, then in my humble view you have given up the right for privacy and you deserve to be "questioned" in public.

if you take the kings shilling....

If it's any consolation, I too liked Dave Lee Travis, not sure I would like to supervise him on a suspended sentence though, I would be far too tempted to sell his autograph....

Ice Bucket Challenge 11th September 2014 9:07 PM

Thare has been some debate about different charities cashing in on the craze, I even read tha one off the cancer charities used google ads to direct people to donate to them using the ice bucket challenge, which was originally stated in America by ALS. I donated to three charities and whilst I got some criticism from people for doing the challenge, I pointed out that I had a fun day with my family, the challenge had prompted debate and most people did donate.

what did make me angry was the Eco warriors claiming it was a waste of water and people in Africa were starving while we pored water on the floor...I pointed out that water in the uk is not a scarce resource, it was not wasted and the charities did benefit.

i may try the cock in a sock challenge next..you have been warned...

I think they do have an odourless version too - that wouldn't bother me except don't they emit nicotine too? That i do have a problem with!”

I never thought we would be back in to the passive smoking debate with e-cigs. It just shows the lack of research and the "greed" associated with simply getting a product on to the market. Whilst I do hope they are safe we have actively decided not to stock e-cigs or oils in our shop until the debate/testing is conclusive in respect of the non-harmful effects of the product.

My biggest fear is seeing more and more youngsters using them, will that lead to actual smoking?

I have been caught out by the auto renewall on car and hiouse insurance, however whilst I may (or may not) have saved a few quid what really does make me angry is how the no-claims discount is applied. I managed to get over 17 years cleaim free. Direct line sent me a renewal notice that showed 13. I challenged this and they said that's all they recognise. I have just renewed after another year with Lloyd's, they only give you 9 years. Just took out a policy with Admiral, they wont recognise anything above the 9 years given by Lloyds even though I can prove that I am now 19 years claim free.....

they should all wear masks...
