This is a bit of a rant but I went into Boots to get some chocolate coins and had them in my hand when I noticed they are Euros! I quickly put them back and wondered if they have all gone the same way can you still buy GBP chocolate coins? What has happened to the GBP?

Rant? Who used my word !

Always good to get my 2 pennies worth (or cents in this case) in a rant post

Yep - totally agree. We should have good old fashioned GBP chocolate coins like we did back in the day.

Last time i checked we were not using Euros in the UK as currency, although i dont think the kids will really take notice as long as its chocolate !

Lazy buyers from Boots i wonder or do the suppliers only stock euro choc coins?

Hmm, this could be the reason... no more Cadburys choccie coins  Thanks Kraft

Maybe blame Aldi and Liddells for the cheap Euro coins?

As reported by the Telegraph:

The chocolate-maker said shoppers had switched to cheaper, own-brand versions sold at supermarkets such as Aldi, Lidl and Poundland, leaving its own sales in decline.

Wrapping gold foil around a piece of coin-shaped chocolate was "fiddly", a spokesman explained, while its version of the stocking-filler had proved difficult to sell without "Cadbury purple" to distinguish it.

"We are sorry to see the coins go, but that's business," the spokesman said.

We're sorry to see British companies get swallowed up by overseas conglomerates and drop traditional products, but that's business...
