At the moment, I am running a garden maintenance business myself.
I do not empoly anyone.
I own a van and a few grands worth of tools, all insured.
I am not sure about public liability or any other coverage I may legally require.
Anyone out there have any suggestions?
Perhaps I should speak to my accountant.......

Anita, tis all you need right now. Public Liability. Shop around - the quotations will vary enormously. As time goes and you secure work in business or LA based, they may well ask that you have a minimum. This also varies and some will say 5 million pounds, others 10 - and an occasional bigger one, but that is for the future.

You don't need PI, just the PL and of course rightly so goods in transit and your tools for the job.

Good luck and I expect you are hoping for a good Spring/Summer?

Yep PL's all you need.

That will teach Clive to have a few days off

After spending 15 years in the insurance industry, our Clive (garde) misses out and I get to answer an insurance question. Although Mike beat me to it

You could have waited until i got back in to the office to post an insurance question

Much as it pains me Steve is right although Mike did get in first

Feel free to PM me if you want to chat about insurance, im a lil out of practice but fundamentals are still the same

Hi Anita

I too have my own small business with a van and tools.

I have trades insurance with Directline which also includes Public Liability for just under a fiver a month. It's certainly worth speaking to them.

regards

Paul

If anyone's on the lookout for insurance, Simply Business do decent quote price comparisons and at the moment if you buy via them you get a voucher for

Hi Anita I think you certainly need to have PL. What's wrong playing safe. Have Public Liability, then your work more freely.
