Has anyone seen the new Google + 1 button? You have to have a Google account and it is only a test mode version at the moment in Google.com but it seems to be pretty cool.

I am not sure how much of it will prove to be for social use as I can see it been used for more business than social but pretty cool.

Check it out

No problem I believe they hope to role it out over the next year or so on all Search Engines, but we shall have to see. We will see allot of stuff like this over the coming years with Google & Facebook coming into allot harder competition.

I honestly think this is flawed on so many levels, why am I voting for a search result before even visiting the site? umm because I own, work on or have some affilliation to the site most probably! otherwise, really? whould I bother?

I agree with your points however it works for facebook so why cant it work for Google?

Thanks,

well in that point the difference is that the facebook like button is on the site, people can review the site and without leaving it click the "like" button whereas with google you are e3ssentially liking a search result rather than an actual website, which does seem silly to me.

I do believe the +1 is going to be integrated into a button you can put on yor site and this will make more sense to me.

certainly google are big enough to make this work, I'm not totally knocking it, there just are some issues with it.

My personal opinion is I think google would do a lot better in the social circle if they dropped trying to make it a google product as such and instead made a totally new company, new name etc and went about doing what google were meant to be and allow it to be free and open for everyone to use.

I agree, it looks like a wannabe "like" button, but as you say it's currently in the wrong place.

Interesting though, I said a while ago that I could see "likes" becoming a major factor in algorithm signals, as it's got to carry more weight than the current currency of links, which lets be honest, is easily manipulated.

Obviously, likes will also get over manipulated, so be interesting to see where Googles thought patterns are going with this, 1 x +1 per account, maybe email activation. SERP demotion if you are caught abusing it?

Hmmm. scurries off and gets ready to plaster +1 buttons all over the place.....

These tools i must say are only a way to promote your site, friends, or affiliate site.

When have you been browsing and then decided to actually digg or recommend a random site?

These tools are flawed on so many levels but hey what can ya do they seem popular.

They are not that reliable but the facebook +1 worked very well as did the Like button on other sites so I have a feeling this Google +1 button will follow as well as that Google have enough money to keep pushing

Closing thread, as we have now all heard and seen the Google+ button
