What Happens to Your Facebook Profile When You Die? - TIME
Interesting stuff, as our personal and virtual lives get more and more intertwined, managing or disabling online and virtual profiles for deceased loved ones, or even trying to track them all will become just as important as all the other associated activities of dealing with someones death, such as finances etc.
Maybe there is a niche for a single sign up service that is notified upon your death and all the various profiles and user ID's you've used are tracked and suspended? Maybe a search for your dead loved one service?
Maybe your loved ones won't want to find out about some of your online activity!! Does little Johnny want to know that Grandad liked to be called Mary at the weekends on dodgygrandads.com ???
The more you think about it, the more complicated the whole process gets. But I do like the idea of an imortalised Facebook page, although, assuming it's still going, it would eventually end up as a huge orbituary site!!
