it's not all too much of what you think, yet. Based on the articles I have, when you are logged in, Google would influence your results based on your behavior and interaction with the people in your circles. So if search for a term and a friend or a person in your circle shared it, +1 it or what not, it may come up to the page 1 of the serps.

I think Google is doing a power move to compete with Facebook, they are doing a lot of those lately. I do think it is not good as you go to facebook because you want to, and then comes Google+, you go to it because you have to.

Just to add - share your content along with other related and interesting content on social networks.

getting back to Google+ , I do think that after Search Plus your World, it is inevitable to say that the +1's and shares would affect search results and traffic altogether. I am actually working on an article to explain this further.

Engage! Facebook is a pretty powerful tool for any business. It is just a matter of how you want to utilize it based on the nature of your biz. Its definitely good for branding so marketing locally is quite advantageous.
