Help with IT backup 8th May 2014 3:13 PM

I have been using Carbonite for around 4 years, and did once have to restore a backup when my laptop got a virus. After 2 years I opted for the 3 year option. I don't have to do anything.

I used to use Outlook when in my employed jobs as that was the done thing. However for the past 7 years I have used Gmail as my mail client without one hitch ever, compared to the occasional hassles and glitches Outlook still continues to cause.

why do you need to host your own server just to put a video on your website??

huh???

I went through the channel tunnel last year when I drove from Doncaster to Germany. Actually, it's very quick and simple. It is also very difficult for your brain to take in that you are indeed 300ft or thereabouts, below the sea! It's just like being on a train in a tunnel that isn't moving (as you can barely feel it move apart from when it slants downwards and then back up at each end so you can feel a very slight sensation of going forward and one of going up, but it is very slight. Moreso you can slightly feel the brakes being applied as it comes out the other end and needs to slow down. It's actually quicker than the time they state on the website. About 20 mins and there is a slow 20mph ride of a few minutes from the point the train leaves the station to actually entering the tunnel and likewise couple or few mins as you come out of the tunnel into daylight and approach the station to drive off. Then likewise, you drive out and onto the road. All dead simple and would prefer this way every time if there was a tunnel in every port.

Girls 5th birthday party ideas 5th May 2014 8:32 AM

Princess Parties are a good idea for little girls.

That's probably a statement to keep the tax man at bay lol

I don't believe shrewd people have nothing put away for a rainy day and certainly not Duncan of all people. He is one sharp tool.

Feedback from new member 29th April 2014 5:56 PM

I hadn't realised there was no PM system. I get messages every so often plus, thought less often, like to send them myself. Some members do not display a means of contact nor always a website link to get in touch that way, so personally i'd say it was necessary of the site was busy. It's a way to keep in touch with specific people. And sometimes we want to keep it on the forum and not spill over into our business. I guess some people would like to PM privately and stay anonymous.

DSR requires you to display your vat number. However, there is no DSR police and doubt anyone else such as HMRC or Trading Standards would bother as most businesses do not display it anyway.

And you can report them to HMRC customs & excise department and check if they are vat reg or not.

Cancel the bank card as lost. They can't then take anything from it as your new card will have a new card number that they won't know.
