That post is far too broad so I hope we don't suddenly see a post appear saying "we can do this".

Why don't you just Google for what you need?
Opinions on using 0845 numbers... 24th October 2013 8:49 AM
It's nor premium rate but it does get billed at 5p a min on landlines and 10p/min on a lot of mobiles. When you are on hold in a queue for 5-10 mins and then 10-15 mins with your query, usually with a complaint I might add, that's an expensive call.

Yes, avoid them.

So unuser-friendly. Costly on mobiles, etc is the number one factor, secondly, difficult to remember. Lastly, gives you the impression you are ringing a (dreaded) call centre, and may be passed around (usually are, guaranteed). Not good on any account.

I think you posted the above in the wrong thread.

There is no need to move domains around. Leave them where they are unless renewal costs are expensive or something other problem you have experienced. I keep all my domains with 123-reg as it's hassle free and fair prices. I used to get my .com's from Godaddy but since their prices went up they aren't the cheapest anymore but think they are still fair for a .com.

It is free to transfer .co.uk's to 123-reg but you have to pay for .com transfers however i'm sure the .com tx fee includes a years registration. Can't speak for every other domain registrar/seller as they are not all the same with regards price, etc. Beware the 99p ones as they catch up with you eventually and you pay later down the line in many cases. They're just there to trap you. I prefer a normal fixed price, no gimmicks. This is business not christmas shopping! They give you 60 days notice to renew and you can select to auto-renew your important domains.

Vidahost as you know from UKBF, come well highly recommended. You won't get any better testimonials from here than you have on there already about them.
Can you put your reply into the thread rather than sending a PM so everyone can keep track of the conversation and your replies.

Yes everyone starts somewhere, i'm just saying, be aware there is more to it than just finding some free software. I know people who have Photoshop and cobble stuff together instead of paying for it to be done professionally. You can always tell the difference and they wonder why they don't quite get the same results as their competitors.
The software is only one part of design......have you got the knowledge and experience to craft the actual design? If not it will just look like a novice that cobbled something together.
Traditional or Wordpress 9th October 2013 6:58 PM
I am a complete novice with websites, but after about two months of practice can now pretty much do most things on my wordpress and woocommerce site (not allowed to mention it yet).

When i say most things, i mean blogs, new articles, pages, products and general updates of prices and stock etc.

what i cannot do is the back end complex design parts, and i have been told not to attempt plugin updates alone, as these can crash the system!

What you're doing here is merely using the content management system to edit your page content. The OP is talking about using Wordpress software as part of designing websites. I should add, there is more than Wordpress as a CMS and better ecommerce software than such as woocommerce.
You know, if you invest your money and pay an established, reputable design company, you will get what you want and without any issues. Pay a professional company for a professional job. Pay a cheap outfit (be it UK or foreign) and you will almost always get a shortfall somewhere, and for most, a big shortfall for definite.

So many folk are turning to these cheap options in order to save money yet expect something of great quality. I'm a bit perplexed over this though

Everyone knows if you go to buy something from Primark and something from Debenhams, the latter will be of the quality you require, with the aftercare you expect, and will last a whole lot longer, even though you had to pay maybe 25-50% more. You already know you will get less for your money with the cheaper seller.

It should be a no-brainer....but somehow, the same thought process is never applied in the internet world!

I have seen your other threads on this and other forums, asking questions like "could I get a site like this?" well, with a reputable, proper company you can get whatever you want.....but only as long as you are prepared to pay for it.
