Posts

Time for a progress update.

Facebook has by far been the star performer and is responsible for generating 99% of our expressions of interest. It certainly has taken me (and everyone else) by surprise. 7 days ago we had 88 likes.

As of today (30/01/15) we have 258 likes and customer leads have gone through the roof.

Key post aimed at generating conversions has been boosted which explains the spike, but it shows that even a brand new account with a good message can quickly generate leads via boosted post.

Twitter has been a lot slower but this week we stand at 85 followers up from 61. Only a couple of leads traced back, but at zero cost marketing wise.

Google Plus up to a monumental total of 6 followers, but very little done on it this week, so has already fallen into normal Google Plus pattern of posting once in a blue moon

B- must try harder...

The end of the gasometer? 30th January 2015 12:35 AM

Did like the shooting fish film if you've ever seen it. Great brit film, but they also live in a gasometer which was pretty funny.

The end of the gasometer? 29th January 2015 10:58 AM

Every time I see a gas holder now I chuckle as it reminds me of when we drove through Brum on the M6 and I had to explain to the wife that the gas tank wasn't broken, but but was empty which was why you could only see the skeleton frame.

So it seems these iconic/ugly/eyesore depending on view point are set to disappear for good as the National Grid who says they are no longer needed, starts to dismantle them and make a few quid by flogging the land

According to the beeb they have been around for 200 years, didn't realise they had been around for that long!

Will the UK's gas holders be missed? - BBC News

So UK icons or good riddance to eyesores and hello to more Wimpey houses?

I'm afraid I haven't got much experience in buying Indian property my young SEO jedi

Just imagining flying it around the Tescos car park, or maybe pension day at the Post Office

No idea how it works, but sounds like Centric is reverse engineering it

Trade Shows - any advice or tips? 28th January 2015 12:14 AM
then really warm beverages as a trap for those who may be a prospect, you have time to deliver a pitch as hot as the cup they are holding, and duty bound to drink in front of you, whilst you convince them to sign up and invest.”

I like your thinking there  A big urn full of coffee, nice idea.

Drones seem to be making the headlines, with a kids toy one causing a scare in the WhiteHouse this week.

Now look what enterprising youngsters are doing to them in the States! Arming them with fireworks and shooting each other

I know it's wrong, dangerous, only a matter of time before some gets blinded or hurt... probably illegal, or if not it soon will be...

But wouldn't you love to have a go

So all the parties are laying out their policies and polishing their sound bites

UKIP reckon they are not interested in joining a coalition, the Tories are bigging up Immigration reforms and talking about Tax Cuts with Labour pledging to make the NHS a priority.

Will the LibDems be able to restore faith and recover supporters lost through their coalition with the Tories.

Has the growth in UKIP taken away enough disgruntled Tory voters to pose serious damage to Tory chances? Is the door open again for Labour, or is the image problem of Miliband a show stopper?

Has the TV debate storm blown over or has damage already been done before the cameras roll?

Regardless of which direction you lean politically, if nothing else it's going to be the most interesting and possibly aggressive campaign we've see in a long time.

Are you unaffected by the rhetoric and propaganda, with long allegiance to a particular party, or are you swayed by new arguments and new comers like UKIP? Or are you one of the many apathetic?

Trade Shows - any advice or tips? 26th January 2015 1:28 PM

About 9 years ago we exhibited at the business start up show at Birmingham's NEC. It was a large show, and we went to town on buying loads of freebies, from pens, whistles (), umbrellas, baseball caps and enough sweets to kit out the local cornershop. It was an interesting experience, but not really viable to be worth repeating regularly and since then we have just done small local and regional events.

But the time has come to do another major show, so the stand shell is booked, we have power, ropey internet access by the sounds of things, some ideas about creative, pop up banners etc.

But what about the give aways? Nearly 10 years on, have things changed? Do people still give lots of stuff out (or do you expect freebies?). Or is just throw out a few pens and a big jar of sweets?

Any ideas or hints on what would draw people to your stand, or get them to stop as they wonder by trying to avoid getting pounced on and sold to death by every other stand?

Competitions has been a good one in the past after visiting a few trade shows over the years, but it seems everyone does it now. Obviously a good way of collecting business cards, ie drop in the bowl and win an ipod or a marsbar, but be interested to think what other people reckon?

So have you exhibited or been to a trade show recently? Did any particular exhibitor stand out from the crowd, if so why? Anyone seen any eye catching creative that made you look twice or enticed you over?  Any hard won gotchas or things that didn't work (don't order thousands of bright yellow whistles, no body wants them!)

Any and all ideas gratefully appreciated

I wonder how much HMRC owes? As the left hand never seems to know what the right hand is doing.”

I love it, does HMRC pay tax? Assume they must at least have a huge NI bill with all those employees. Or is the civil service exempt?
