I'm loving Sugar by Maroon 5. My step daughters keep me vaguely up-to-date with music even if I don't want to be! ![]()
PostsWhat Are You Listening To Now? 5th May 2015 11:23 AM Election 2015 - so what do you think of it so far? 22nd April 2015 10:02 PM Seeing the support for UKIP fills me dread. I really hope people vote to keep them out. That's probably what I'll do, which means voting labour in Coventry. I could never vote Tory as they're out to make the rich richer and screwing over the poor and disabled (the cuts are coming left, right and centre at the moment! ) Lib dems are a waste of time now. Labour aren't hugely better but I'm hoping they can save the nhs. It's unlikely though, I admit. They're really all quite intolerable but Farage makes my skin crawl! Along with the Daily Fail and it's nonsense. I think trident should be scaled down hugely and foreign aid should remain at least what it is now. Not popular views but for me it's all about living in a better world, not just getting what you can for yourself. Well that's my tuppence worth anyway! Solar Eclipse UK style 30th March 2015 6:14 PM You miserable lot! I thought the solar eclipse was awesome! It was sunny here and I had the proper glasses so you could see the moon passing across. I also made a simple pinhole viewer from a cereal packet. It went really cold when it was at its peak. The tv coverage was really amazing as well. I was quite humbled and moved by the whole thing, nature is magnificent.
and on that bombshell, I'm sacked! 26th March 2015 7:03 PM I really can't stand the guy so I hope he never works again...I can imagine them relaunching Top Gear with someone else but I agree it will take a total overhaul to pull it off. I would possibly watch it with someone else! Perhaps not though. Lead Generation Ideas 24th March 2015 5:12 PM I've so far relied on doing a good job and being proactive by offering my services (basically pointing out typos on people's websites!) Networking has also helped although as a full-time mum as well this has it's limits for me. Social Media can be helpful but also time consuming and as for Google+ I don't really get on with it. LinkedIn has yet to generate me any business but I am still working on my profile. I need to sort out my website desperately but time is at a premium for me at the moment. I haven't much expertise about SEO, although it seems the goalposts move every five minutes with that anyway! TXT SPK 24th March 2015 1:52 PM Oh no, not textspeak! AGGHHH! I hate it, as you can imagine. Although I only hate it in the wrong place. Between teenagers it is like a secret language really, which I have no problem with. The wider use of it by older people I find embarrassing and by businesses unforgivable! I guess you could argue that if your target market is young people then maybe it is acceptable.... Thanks for the mention Steve. I am having a great time finding all the mistakes on Steve's latest project, I am not sure he's having a great time rectifying them but hopefully it will lead to a very professional finish! The problem with being a proofreader is I see mistakes everywhere I go...it is shocking really!
Do some retailers think we are dumb....Poundland! 9th February 2015 5:45 PM As a self-confessed snob I used to avoid such places like the plague but having a baby and a serious dent in my bank balance means I had to change my ways. I am always scouting for a bargain now, I even go to Coventry market sometimes! ;-) I think Poundland can be great for craft things and if you know the prices elsewhere you can get bargains on other things. Aldi and Lidl are definitely cheaper for many everyday items, I tend to spend too much on random 'stuff' in there though! Danger! Trade Shows - any advice or tips? 8th February 2015 5:33 PM I've only been as a visitor but I agree that the freebies are what draw me in! Any original freebies that are also useful are great. Free food of some kind is also very luring! I'm part of a stand at the upcoming business show in Coventry and I'm really unsure what to take as my budget is limited. I love grammar and spelling but I don't think everyone shares my enthusiasm sometimes, proofreading can be a challenge to market! Funky badges were very cool at the Stratford show, but they were for the Shakespeare company I think as had quotes. Oh and quills! A goody bag is also always welcome to carry all the free pens home in!
I hope it goes well. Can't you tell the sun is out!! 8th February 2015 5:04 PM That's interesting! Is it a mood changer do you think? I know I feel a lot more positive and motivated when it's sunny! I can't say I notice it business wise but I'm quite a small set up at the moment. Bad review couple win compensation 8th February 2015 4:58 PM I'm so glad justice was served! Hooray! |
