$115 million is pocket change for Apple. 27th February 2013 8:12 AM
Seems like they would have to pay out iphone users for "apparently free apps" that ended up costing people a fortune. And the price? $115 million - small change apparently. Each user will more than likely be offered $5. Seems rather unfair to those that have lost hundreds.

Apple might be about to accept a legal settlement that would see it pay off a lot of apps users that have been bitten by in-app purchases. The issue here is that apps, often apps that are initially free, essentially have been serving as gateways to a mall of virtual frippery and gewgaws.

If it does Apple will have to reach out to 23 million iTunes account holders and offer them $5.

Spotify - Google style 27th February 2013 8:08 AM
hmm, while reading about stories where agencies are calling for Google to be fined for their transgressions, it seems that Youtube might be a-changing again.

Google's Android unit has been negotiating with music companies to start a paid subscription music-streaming service akin to Spotify AB, according to people familiar with the matter.Separately, Google's YouTube video website is trying to obtain licenses from music labels to start a paid subscription service for music videos and potentially also for audio-only songs, these people said.

You can read the rest of the post here (from the wall street journal), I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Do you think the net needs another Spotify? Would the scheme work for Google, or wouldn't it?
Dang, if that ever happened to me, you'd have to lock me up and toss the key away. You can read the rest of the post here, from the inquirer.

Seems like we have joined in the scandal. A few weeks ago, when the story in the UK hit, our ministers were uhming and ahing about the whole debacle and saying they will investigate and what not.

Well, apparently 68% of the meat tested by Stellenbosch University seems to be either water buffalo, soya, goat or donkey (). They tested burger patties, minced meat, sausages, and meats sold in deli's.

There is a post here that has more info on the story, from iol news.

Poor customer service can run a company into the ground eventually. - Bad reputation will dry up any recurring or incoming revenue quicker than anything.

I personally would've complained and escalated.
Sometimes, a business needs this to learn where their weaknesses are and correct them.

I thought about it a few times, long and hard. Nothing would have made me feel better at the time after the way they handled the order. Truth be told, in the end I put it down to experience and left it that way. At some point in time the wheel will turn and they will get their just desserts. I'm too much of a "non-confrontational" person I guess.

Tweetdeck's closing down? 25th February 2013 10:11 AM
Could be, I should see if I can find some more info now that everything seems to have settled. Have to admit I was going on the info I had at the time.
hmmmm Roxy hasn't been around for two weeks...

I know the feeling though. Especially when you've taken the time to write something you know will help someone, and you get either a generic thank you, or some silly gibberish that makes no sense.

The million dollar question is "why". Is it because they're under the impression that they're the best in the area? Or because they have so many deals going with so many schools for stationary that one person's silly request is inconsequential to them? That's a case of not seeing the bigger picture IMHO.

I got my pencils on Saturday morning and had to resist the urge to walk around the corner to Company B, just to prove to their representative that the pencils I asked for weren't a myth. On the way home I stopped at one of our local nurseries that also has an art supply store and et voila, I got the mythical 9B pencil, and a good many extras I didn't think I was going to buy. Why? Because the sales person I spoke to, was listening, advising, looking at my art (took pics on my iphone), and then getting me the right stuff that works with my style instead of against it. That is what I call customer service. Even though I bought more than just the 9B pencil, I walked from that store feeling ecstatic, and happy that I spent the money I did.

IMHO That's what stores need to target. but somehow.......
