I never really thought we would ever get this far. It just goes to show though, that there are a lot of people in the world. It seems that with FB, twitter and the multitude of other social sites out there, the world is getting smaller and smaller.
Free Ipad 2 9th June 2011 8:51 AM
Where do I sign up? lol

To be honest, the thought of getting an Ipad is amazing, and would probably write the best review of the PDF I could. But then again I would have done so even if the chance to win the Ipad was not there.

I think its a good way to get publicity, and its a good way to get people to read your material and even if its a trial pdf it will give them an idea of the kind of work you do and the research you've put into the product etc.

Downfalls? You might have a few really great reviews, and you might have a few that are going to have bad grammar. OR you could get only one of these. Other than that I cannot really see that you would have too many serious problems?
Microsoft takes over Skype! 8th June 2011 9:47 AM
I recently updated Skype after the acquisition went through and well it still seems the same, just that it seems to really drag my system resources a little when it loads.

The last I heard about the whole thing was that they are creating a new division inside MS for Skype which is going to be head by Skypes original CEO? Does anyone know how this is going?
I'm in Kips gang 6th June 2011 6:51 AM
I got an iPhone 4, lol does that count? I've learned to steer clear of the app store for a bit though, but it just too much fun. My workday is planned on it, my skype runs through it, and not my PC. It's just so convenient really. I'm in love with my phone and won't ever want another one.
Hmmm true. but then there are many "rogue" sm's out there.

For example, I took part in a heated discussion about whether or not people should be allowed to buy likes and tweet followers. I couldn't believe people actually would do that in the first place, so it took me a bit to actually grasp what the person was offering.

For a certain amount of money, they would give you a certain amount of likes or twitter followers.

Can anyone believe this kind of madness?
is it a one time pin? or do you get a new one every time you log in? It would be good to know that I could protect my email that way. Pity msn never thought of that.
This is interesting really. We have been thinking about getting people to work on our social network pages. I barely have the time to work on these during the day, my workload is amazing most days

What bothers me though, is how do you make sure the person you hire is going to be able to represent your company properly? We've thought about outsourcing, and to be honest it scares me. Giving someone our company reputation on a silver platter, expecting them to do something good with it, scares the crud out of me. My biggest fear is that these people hired to help the company will end up damaging the reputation instead of building it.
Forum Posting is Still Effective 2nd June 2011 7:36 AM
This will heavily depend on how you go about using forums, if you go along and spam and post silly comments which are useful then no forum posting will not help but if you continue to be a good member and post useful questions and good answers then forum posting can still be a good SEO tool.
Its like any other aspect of SEO

You hit the nail on the head there. I get really frustrated when people just fill posts to get a post count so they could use a signature. and then vanish into the sunset when they have enough posts to their liking.

A forum is a community. The part you play determines not only how well you would do, but how well the forum would do. It's also a way to show you can interact with people. If you have the personality of a bowl of fruit and either post comments that help no one, or outright abuse other members with your posts, then you shouldn't really be part of the community.
No Follow Links - Matt Cutts 31st May 2011 9:49 AM
A link is a link, is a ....well link. It points back to you whether its a nofollow or not. People always steer clear of anything nofollow because they feel that its not worth the effort of placing content on a blog, for example, if they know its not going to give them link juice (I think they call it that ~ weird sayings ), but at the end of the day, that link is still around, and Google still picks up on it.

It still all boils down to quality, and whether or not you link to quality sites or not.
