Insurance companies are their own worst enemies and are always coming under attack for one reason or another.

They do sometimes though quietly get on with things - one of my customers lost a car in the Boscombe floods years ago. From date of claim to paying out took 7 days, yet that wasnt reported at the time !

Fully get where Steve is coming from but at times they dont always deserve the bad press they get.

World really is getting more paranoid and mad!

Flying is becoming tedious, belt and boots off, check kids drinks, now make sure your lappie and phone is charged...”

Yep can now see the attraction of holidaying at home - but will see how i get on at Birmingham Airport in 3 weeks before i make any sweeping statements

Yep - we did exactly the same Barney.

We scraped our 7/14 day invoices, for our big projects we still do have to use an invoice, but for the listings on the site people either pay online or call me in the office if they wish to speak to a human.

The hours it saves me/us chasing invoices is insane. Gives me more hours to give a better service and make Steve coffees lol

I think if you can answer that question, you'd get a flood of enquirers from all SME's !

Sadly big company syndrome doesnt factor that smaller companies dont have the large cash reserves they do and that they need paying the day they finish the job and cant wait 30, 60 or even 90 days for invoices to be checked in triplicate, or even worse you are stuck behind the company book-keeper that wont pay the invoice until they are sent the "red letter".

I thinks its terrible that big companies are accountable for a lot of smaller firms cash flow problems and payments should be made a lot quicker.

This story on the BBC website resonates with me Facebook revenge for Lowestoft poor parking praised

Sounds all a bit vigilante for me and i fear that someone may take matters in to their own hands.

Is it right that a civilian takes the Law in to his own hands and posts pictures of poorly parked cars on Facebook albeit in Public interest, but isnt that what the Police & Traffic Wardens are for?

Similar thing happened outside of the school where i'm a Governor and a parent started taking photos of cars parked on the zigzag lines outside the gates and it caused us all sorts of grief.

I'm all for responsible parking but against the kind of vigilante actions taken. If there is a parking problem the Police should be involved. Ok they dont issue parking fines but the driver can be reported for other offences, or the Police and Traffic Wardens should work closer together IMHO

Just as a foot note to Trenas comments ....

The company emailed us asking us to make contact with them and remove the post.

I made 2 phone calls both of which went to voicemail so i left 2 messages, i then replied to the email giving them both my direct number and the general office number and have not received a reply.

Rather than remove the post i have edited the comments to temporarily remove the companies name, pending the outcome of the Court hearing.

A company in the Czech Republic has bought android phones off Ebay and extracted 10's of thousand of images and personal data from the phones using easily available standard forensic tools.

Although most people are aware that a factory reset usually wipes data, it seems that some of the older smart phones only erase the indexing, not that actual images/data itself.

Experts have warned the only way to be safe that your data has been wiped is to destroy the phone.

I have a sledge hammer for hire if anyone needs it

As Jan just said to me, this illustration has far too much hair to be on about me !

Was reading earlier that insurers will soon be forced to tell you at renewal what your previous premium was and if it contained any kind of introductory discount.

Its allegedly to make it easier for us to work out if your premium has gone up.

Have to be honest and say i keep all my docs for the car & house insurance in folders along with the house bills, so a simple check on last years schedule and i know what i paid.

If insurers accept this it will probably kick in around the end of next year but with the force of the FCA behind it, i cant see how they cannot go along with it.

Hopefully will mean transparent and competitive renewal premiums, although the policy fee still gets on my nerves, but thats another story.
