Was watching something on TV the other night about the Harriers & the Falklands - apparently we didnt lose a single one, although they were interviewing both British & Argentinian pilots and there was one particular dog fight where we shot 2 jets down. the 3rd jet was allegedly behind one of our Harriers but it suffered a malfunction and couldnt fire!!

I remember this conflict vividly, the sight of the Sir Galahad on fire and the horrific injuries suffered by some of the survivors, Simon Weston to name but one

I went to see one of the carriers come back to Portsmouth, not sure now if it was Hermes or Invincible, bit it was one hell of a sight watching it come in to Port and a typical British reception

The only problem I see with choping peoples hands off, is that you make them pretty much useless to any future employer...

Yep a bit harsh maybe, but wouldnt a potential thief be deterred by that rather than worrying about which wrist the Magistrate will slap?

How many times have you watched a car thief being chased by the police on these cop shows, evidence is there in full technicolour glory (to those that arent colour blind) only for the case to be dropped due to a technicality - grr i cant help but yell at the TV, even my boys now aged 14 & 11 say they are horrified at what they see sometimes.

No respect for the Law, Police or other peoples property anymore

But having witnessed Clives driving on many occasions, you're right, he should be banned

Harsh ! It wasnt me that recently had to go on a driver awareness course for speeding

We do have a streamline machine in the office - have looked a few times at alternatives but have to be honest and say they are all pretty much the same bar a few starter incentives.

Have also looked in to the roaming sim ones but for the amount of times we go out & about it became too cost prohibitive.

There was a forum member on here that did contact me once -PM me if you are interested and i will dig out the name.
Prisoners to get voting rights ! 6th June 2012 3:48 PM
Both men and women have in the past died fighting for the right to vote. And because you can vote you should vote, in my opinion if you don't make the effort to vote then you are never in a position or have the right to criticise those running the show.
:

Havent criticised anyone individually - i agree if you dont vote you cant bleat at an individual party - i said all parties are as bad as each other and dont see the point as they are ALL a waste of space

I suppose a lot depends on what the purpose of prison is.

Just punishment or is there more to it like rehabilitation and reduction of re-offending?

Yep - good point - again i have said im all for rehabilitation but there should be more of a deterant making Prisons not such a nice place to go - never been inside so cant say how good or bad it is to be fair. i can only go by what the news broadcasts, not sure how much hype is behind that!

Kind of going to hijack the thread, for which i apologise -why does everyone get so passionate about football?

The game IMHO has changed so much with multi million pound contracts being offered to the players and the clubs who seem to have the most cash seem to be in the top 5.

Without goal line technology clubs are missing out on millions of pounds due to a disallowed goal.

Players are diving to get penalties - wheres the sportsmanship gone?

Avid F1 fan personally and partial to the odd game of snooker - watching the recent matches at the Crucible a few weeks ago - a player called a foul on himself that the ref missed, which eventually cost him the frame - what soccer alleged "star" would do that? Even if they know they knocked the ball out they claim its their throw in - hmm not a gentlemans game at all anymore

Im all in favour of rehabilitation but what is the point of sending someone to Prison where they then get treated as good as someone who has to work for their possessions.

No-one forces them to break the Law - Prison should be hard labour and not a nice place to go, there shouldnt be TVs, game stations, Voting Rights - it should be a punishment not a holiday camp.

Re the Voting, dont get me wrong i choose not to vote as i agree with Andrew and i believe all Politicians to be liars and cheats, the expenses row still rings loudly in my ears! It doesnt matter what promises they make, the second they get in to power they forget everything they said and spend years berating the other party for cocking up

With fuel prices just starting to come down a tad i hear that there is a 3p rise due in August, which will actually turn out to be 4p by the time you add VAT - this consistent rise in Fuel Duty cannot continue -enough is enough

Will it not make your National News?
Prisoners to get voting rights ! 23rd May 2012 1:29 PM
Not had a rant for a while but this positively made me scream at the radio first thing this morning.

Not really heard that much about it, but from my understanding Prisoners will soon be eligible to vote as directed by The Court of Human Rights interfering as usual with UK Law.

If you break the law you should expect to be locked away and all your "Human" rights should be stripped away. What right do they have to break the Law in the first place?

Im fed up with these bloody doo-gooders saying that they have rights for this & that - they gave up all those rights the second they beat up someone, broke in to houses, rape, murder the list goes on.

The ONLY good thing is Europe have said we can implement these changes as we see fit and not all prisoners will get this right, its up to the Government to decide who can & cant.

My 2 pennies - bring back hard labour & National Service - i have to work to provide x-boxes & TVs for my kids, why should these lay abouts get them for free in their cells start making a prison a deterrant and not a holiday camp!!!!

Have to admit i do tend to drive aggressively

It was years of commuting toi Birmingham, being cut up by idiotic car & bus drivers - i made a new rule, let no one in & my bumper was planted to the rear of the car in front - only had one coming together with a bus that decided he wasnt going to wait and as 2 lanes narrowed in to one he took my mirror off

The drive to work now i dont have that much traffic is much calmer but when im around Towns i do have blood rush moments
