Link Building Tips 2nd May 2011 11:29 AM
Over the years I have had quite a few articles syndicated which does pay off. I use to try and do it all myself, but it always ended up with sleepless nights and driving me round the twist. Have been interviewed by the Guardian and asked to do a few makeover television shows, however I always decline them as they usually want you to work for free for a week, but they will give you a website link lol...
I had dealings with a company once that used a virtual office, in fact they had several. Everything about this company looked legit when carrying out searches even down to Google maps. Only after losing a few quid did I realise I had been had over. I decided to make an early morning visit to this company's so called address only to find that it was a virtual office, the person running the office was kind of unhelpful and would not provide any kind of information even though he said he'd had several visitors that week enquirying about the same company. So I personally would never use a virtual office and nor would I get involved with a company that did, to me it just seems as though they have something to hide. What annoys me is I was scammed by this outfit over 5 years ago and they are still doing it to this day..

Can one of you SEO bods explain to me what a link wheel is, what makes a good link wheel and what makes a bad wink wheel? I have read both good and bad things about them... I get the odd email asking if I would join one, but have never really understood it so have left well alone...
Debt Doctor gone bust 1st May 2011 11:59 AM
Maybe the people that most needed a Debt Dr, were advised to use a free debt counsiling service. Still if Debt Dr can't make money in the current financial climate, theres not much chance of them making money when the good times return..

Well one things for sure it can't be doing the UK's economy much good as effectively a week has been lost. Enough tax revenue lost to build at least another 6 hospitals and pay for another 1000 police officers The only way it has effected me so far is the time it is taking to recieve credit and debit card transactions.

I currently pay someone to write 2 article submissions a month. Quite happy with the work she has done, but it is getting to the stage now when everything that could be written has been written, I'm not even sure who reads it or why come to that Anyway the question is what is the difference between an article submission and a press release and is one better than the other?
squidoo.com - who uses it? 1st February 2011 10:11 AM
Were they any good and was it worth it?

I think it was worth it, on the basis that I was spending to much time trying to get my head around making one myself. There are people on Squidoo who advertise themselves as lensbuiders and have built up their reputations on the site. My only issue really, was the terminology where as in the UK something described as a gas pipe in the US is I guess is described as a gas line, so I had a few niggles with it but the guy was quite happy to change it and once it is all complete he gives you the password so you can edit it later if you wish. Whether Squidoo actually benefits my sites I have no idea apart from the links. But having paid a lot more to be in a normal directory for just a year BOTW springs to mind I think Squidoo is better as it is permanent.
Reviews 31st January 2011 11:30 PM
We are in the process of redesigning our own review system, which I freely admit is flawed, but meeting up with the owner of KwikChex later this week, who specialise in reputation management and are currently taking on Trip Adviser and their bogus reviews. Hoping to get some input, but by March, I should finally have a fully functioning positive/negative review system.

Would you say that many of the reviews listed on this site are self written by business owners themselves or by genuine customers of these businesses? Google local map reviews seem to be so obviously fake, especially when I check my competitors, one of them has over 50 glowing reviews, they were posted every other day for around 9 months 2 years ago, nothing negative written, like they arrived late or something, this company was totally faultless. Yet since the last review was posted there has been nothing, even some of the negative reviews written about other businesses seem to have been written by competitors. So how do you currently monitor how reviews are written on here? Or can I spend the rest of this evening tapping out glowing reviews of myself till the early hours of the morning?
