Hi All.

I make handmade jewellery, so i'm guessing from checking how many other 'jewellery' sites' there are that i will be looking at paying quite alot per keyword.

It's not the volume of sites you need to look at it's the volume of advertisers and what they are willing to pay per click.

Start with the keyword tool here keyword tool - but like I said above, take with a slight pinch of salt

It would be worth spending a bit on Adwords, just to give your site a kick-start, especially if you have any vouchers.

I doubt people would search for "handmade jewellery" and if they did I doubt they would be the ones that made a purchase. I would target terms like "nice bracelets" "pretty rings"

Worth checking out the google keywords tool for this.

However you might be better buying content marketing (adsense marketing) where you could display, say, an image of one of your fabulous bracelets on a website where the words "bracelets" has been mentioned a few times.

I did a quick look and noticed a lot of people search for [jewellery] + design, essentially people searching to see whether they could make their own.

Perhaps an inexpensive form of marketing for you would be a series of youtube videos/demonstrations about how to make your own jewellery.

I tend to disagree. I think some people would be searching specifically for "handmade" jewellery, to find something unique.

I agree with this too - especially as we are running towards the season of gift buying

Hi Kelly

Agree with most of the above, but want to add one word of caution.

Be careful when bidding on certain high volume or expensive keywords, always put in a daily budget which is on the low side initially, so that while your learning and seeing the results of your keyword bids, your budget won't evaporate in hours.

I speak from experience having done PPC for years when in the secured loan market, got stung for a few hundred

Data CAN Deceive is it is not read and interpreted correctly. Think trends

I disagree. Data is correct 100% of the time.
